Publisher's Summary

Simon learns the worst crime a Shadowhunter can commit: desertion of his comrades. One of 10 adventures in Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy.

In the early 19th century, Tobias Herondale abandoned his fellow Shadowhunters in the heat of battle and left them to die. His life was forfeit, but Tobias never returned, and the Clave claimed his wife's life in exchange for Tobias'. Simon and his fellow students are shocked to learn of this brutality, especially when it is revealed the woman was pregnant. But what if the child survived? Could there be a lost Herondale line out in the world today?

This standalone audiobook follows the adventures of Simon Lewis, star of the number-one New York Times best-selling series The Mortal Instruments, as he trains to become a Shadowhunter. Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy features characters from Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments, Infernal Devices, and the upcoming Dark Artifices and Last Hours series. The Lost Herondale is written by Cassandra Clare and Robin Wasserman.

Simon Fix

I have soaked up The Infernal Devices, The Mortal Instruments, and The Bane Chronicles. Clare is one of my favorite authors. I recommend listening to the Infernal Devices and Mortal Instruments before The Shadowhunter Academy or Bane Chronicles. I dearly love the back stories that continue to give us more of the characters we love. If you were taken in by the fantastic detail, the humor, the centuries of shadow hunter tradition, and the world Clare created then you will adore these shorts. The narration is first rate and who doesn't love Simon and Jace banter amidst Herondale history?

The Herondales

Simon is. learning to fit in, and stick up for himself. He still does not understand who he is as a person., but Clary tries to remind him that he is still the same Simon as before. He dislikes the law that vampire s have to be killed if they step out of line, and questions when they cannot just go to jail. He even learns about about a last Herondale as a precautionary tale.

Great Way to Fill In Gaps

I love how the authors fill in back story and details from other stories so that these short episodes are intricately woven into the fabric of the larger novels. It is especially nice to read about Simon's realistic-seeming battle to discover who he is along with his returning memories. So as NOT to have spoilers, I would recommend you read/listen to these stories before you read Lady Midnight.

Cliffhanger...

The performance is good, you can really feel how lost and in despair Simon is. I enjoy the story, however, I am HOOKED just in time for it to be over!
