Publisher's Summary

"Find the Elves and return them to the world of Men!" the shade of the Druid Allanon had ordered Wren.

It was clearly an impossible task. The Elves had been gone from the Westland for more than a hundred years. There was not even a trace of their former city of Arborlon left to mark their passing. No one in the Esterland knew of them - except, finally, the Addershag.

The blind old woman had given instructions to find a place on the coast of the Blue Divide, build a fire, and keep it burning for three days. "One will come for you."

Tiger Ty, the Wing Rider, had come on his giant Roc to carry Wren and her friend, Garth, to the only clear landing site on the island of Morrowindl, where, he said, the Elves might still exist, somewhere in the demon-haunted jungle.

Now she stood within that jungle, remembering the warning of the Addershag: "Beward, Elf-girl. I see danger ahead for you...and evil beyond imagining." It had proved all too true.

Wren stood with her single weapon of magic, listening as demons evil beyond all imagining gathered for attack. How long could she resist?

And if, by some miracle, she reached the Elves and could convince them to return, how could they possibly retrace her perilous path to reach the one safe place on the coast?

Great story teller.

Great narrator, the best I've ever heard so far out of the 20+ Audible books that I've listed to.

Exciting story

I live all the Shannara book. I could hardly put this book down. The characters and the story are well developed . The reader performs the parts well. I definitely recommend this book.

Must read before moving on to Final book

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, In keeping with the series the writer devoted majority of this book solely to the Elves while touching on current adventures of the other characters on their quest. Would be a mistake not to read this book prior to finishing the series

Which character – as performed by John Lee – was your favorite?

Had several favorites in this book as well as disappointment in some of the characters themselves. I do not want to spoil the story by addressing them here as it would give away the adventure of discovering them for yourself

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No, except you do feel the frustration for what the elves were experiencing

Any additional comments?

Enjoyed the complete series

Love Terry Brooks!

I've read the Shanarra series since I was a child. I absolutely love and adore his style of writing. This is my third time reading this, and first time as audio book. Well done.

The best in the series...by far

The Elf Queen is truly epic and continues to build the story in book three of a four book series. I've already finished book four, which is every bit as good as this story, so felt compelled to come back to book three to write a review. This story is suspenseful, exciting, filled with drama, and every bit as entertaining as you would hope to experience in this genre. Terry Brooks is a wonderful story teller complemented with John Lee's unique narrating style which only enhances the listener's experience.

If you are undecided about this 4-book series and are previewing what others have to say about this epic fantasy story, you will not be disappointed if you take the plunge. Each story continues to build on its predecessor with new characters introduced along the way. I especially enjoyed not having to wait at least a year for the next installment but was able to proceed with the next book when I was ready. The story is suitable for young adults and above and is not predictable as many YA fantasies are. A great read, highly recommended.

Loved it

Awesome ending! So worth it. Can't wait to read book 4. The culmination of 3 books worth of waiting.

The Elf Queen of Shannara

Having read the book, I looked forward to the audio version. However, John Lee's narration was hard to follow, his voice almost mechanical sounding. It detracted from an an enjoyable and exciting companion story to the Scions of Shannara. I won't be purchasing other audio books narrated by John Lee.

This entire series was great!

Very action packed! Had me on the edge of my seat the entire time! The descriptions paint a very vivid picture to set the tones of what's happening.

Very exciting and dark.

The Elf Queen of Shannara is the third book in the quadrilogy and as such had to be the one where hope is scarse. But I wasn't ready for the viciousness' of the darkness that it plunged me into.

I was able to listen to the story at my leisure half way through the book, and the rest I finished in one day. It was stressful. The first half of the book is standard fantasy, while fantastic writing, it was all going so well that I began to wonder if there was going to be any plot twist or some sort of challenge at all for the main protagonists, and then suddenly, it was The Great Escape!

Seriously stressful. Some really dark moments made me want to stop and relax just a little, but it just kept on rolling down a mountain with a momentum that demanded all of my attention.

At some point I had to ask "hey Terry, can we have a happy ending... At least once😊?"

Great story, great writing, hope is scarse, but in the end you are lookin forward to the culmination of the story in the next book.

Narration by John Lee was awesome and on point the entire book. Looking forward to hearing more of him in the books to come.
