Taking place a generation after The Talismans of Shannara, The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara: Ilse Witch opens with the discovery of a body. Only two people understand its significance: Walker Boh, the last of the Druids and a familiar character to Shannara fans, and the Ilse Witch, a beautiful but dark young woman who wields a potent magic. Thus begins the voyage of the Jerle Shannara in a race to uncover the mystery, which of course includes an unusual cast of characters: an Elven prince; a monstrous creature who is part man, part enigma; and a young man who may unknowingly hold the key to the success of the mission. For he is the only one who can call upon that ancient talisman, the Sword of Shannara.

For the legions of fans who've been captivated since the very first Shannara novel, this eagerly anticipated new chapter in Terry Brooks' signature series will be reason to celebrate. The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara: Ilse Witch offers an intriguing invitation to plunge again into the enthralling world of the best-selling Shannara adventures.

hard to get into a story that's abridged when the past 12 have been unabridged.

I love the be series but wish they had the unabridged version. You can't form the same bond with the characters.

great series

I would usually give 5 stars but the reader spoke so fast that I was constantly replaying just to hear. I would recommend slowing down the speaker... also was pronouncing Elcrys wrong ...

Terry has a way to keep your attention and excitement until the end. The original trilogy just keeps on playing one generation after another.

I love these books

It took a long time for character development and for such a short book, the plot moves quickly. Once I was up to spped, I loved it. This was my favorite book in the series. It took two different time to get into it however

I have read the series several times and listened to the audio books several times and it is still exciting - love the series!

Good read

The book has great characters and the story is pretty cool. The only issue I felt while listening to the book was that the author wanted to make all of the side characters important and so you have listened to half the book before you get into the real action. It seemed like a great start to a longer book but then again this book actually had no resolution. The main characters go on this long journey and right before they find what there looking for the book ends and if you want to find out what happens you will have to read book 2. In the end I was left with a bittersweet taste in my mouth. Definitely worth listening to but probably not one I would think of off the top of my head when friends ask for suggestions as to which book they should read next.

Bittersweet...

Great story, wish I could have heard the whole thing. An unabridged version would be nice.

Where's the Unabridged version!?!?

I hope that the reader does not read any more books for Audible, I almost had to hold off on listening to this book until I could get a hard copy and read it for myself. he couldn't even pronounce words right, but that's probably a production fault.

the reading performance sucks

While I love the story.
I am not a fan of the Narrator. The way he portrays some of the characters is not how I would picture them.
There needs to be an unabridged version as well

It could be better
