Publisher's Summary

This is the story of a Space Cadet named Clay Stone who completed his academy training and is assigned to Space Center as the first Starship Captain to embark on a stellar mission to a red dwarf star called Alpha Proxima 4.2 light years away.

The trip is a disaster and the trials and tribulations are many, but the mission is almost doomed near the end.

The story is packed full of humor, romance, action and adventure. You're going to love this one.

But, please, don't tell anyone the ending.

Don't waste your time.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If the author had been more focussed on writing a riveting suspenseful story rather than an extended series of repetitive declarative statements. No humor in this, no passion just vapid, oft repeated sentences.

Has Red Dwarf Bundled turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, just makes me want to read better. The underlying story could have been great but the actual point to point execution is lacking.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator can only read what he's given. It's clear he tried to assume the "by golly, by gosh" affectations of the authors writing style but ultimately, it falls flat because the writing style is so blunt and lacks any depth.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment. I honestly bought this without reading the description. I thought, from the title, it was related to Red Dwarf (the British Sci-fi Television show) by the BBC. It is not, and I am done with it.

Nice concept but very poorly written

This is going to be the first book from
Audible that I'll return.

It's a shame because the concept is sound, it's just very poorly written and starts to annoy after a while. I get the feeling an editor hasn't really helped with the production of this book.

Not the real Red Dwarf

I bought this thinking that it was the classic UK TV series but quickly realised my mistake. I thought I'd give it a go anyway - big mistake. Wooden narration, inferior storyline, uninteresting characters. Decided to delete it but there's an hour of my life that I'll never get back. Do yourself a favour and give this a miss. I hate giving such a poor review but I feel that I need to warn other readers.

very cut and paste.

The story and plot development was pritty good. the only thing letting it down was the slabs of story that was outright cut and past not once or twice but countless times though out all of the books. this made for some pritty ordinary listening that bordered to boring.
