The conclave evicts the mercenary forces surrounding Cercia. It gives Mila Pappas the opportunity to lead the first wave on an offensive against these races in their territories. However, Mila’s strategy quickly evolves from one of offense to persuasion.

Conclave warships fended off four enemy fleets intent on attacking the Malia system. No one believes the fighting is finished. As anticipated, a fifth fleet of more sophisticated warships arrives. The commanders are armed with information from the previously defeated races.
