A power he doesn't believe in.

An enemy preparing for war.

A prophecy he cannot allow to come true.

Trystan’s destiny has been foretold. He is the prince who will bring magic back to the kingdom.

To him, magic is a fairy tale. To his people, it’s their only chance.

Twenty years ago, the power was drained by the very people meant to protect it: the legendary Tri-Gard.

If Trystan is going to bring hope to his kingdom, he must reunite the three who betrayed them.

The problem? The Tri-Gard has been in hiding since the day he was born.

From USA Today best-selling authors Michelle Bryan and M. Lynn comes a fantasy where princes are stubborn, betrayal stings even the coldest hearts, and the only thing that can break a princess is falling in love.

This BOOK!

Where does Prophecy of Darkness rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Definitely in the top 10. It really is that good.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Davi <3

Have you listened to any of J. M. Needham’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I haven't listened to him before, but I will any time I have a chance now.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did try, but it just didn't work out for me.
For book 2, I'll start in the wee hours of the morning.

Any additional comments?

Holy cow I REALLY need to know what happens next. May 1st can't get here soon enough.

I'm pretty sure I suspect something, but it's probably just wishful thinking.
Also, thank you M & Michelle for such a freaking great book!

The book starts out great with plenty of action...

This book starts out as a great fantasy, with all of the earmarks that tell me I'm gonna love it... The narrator is pleasant and his voice acting is great, his creeps are really creepy...
But, here's my beef, I want a book to have a beginning, a middle, and an ending...  Sure, go ahead and make it a part of a greater story arc, but give each individual story an ending please... don't just give me the beginnings of a story, and then leave the characters mired up to their eyeballs in the sh*t! So I don't even know how to rate this one 3★★★ for a great beginning, or 1★ for the rage I felt at it's ending... or the lack thereof!

How will this unravel?

This is not a stand alone story- ends in a cliffhanger! Tristan’s father, the King, believes it is Tristan’s destiny to correct their ailing magic-less world. Hopefully the next book will better explain why the lack of magic is causing problems. The synopsis says Tristan, but actually Davian and two other main characters are along on the journey to find Tri-Gard. They do not all start off together. A long the way the group have their trials and mishaps. We get an insight into many deceptions and secrets being kept.

This is a good story. I like the silly banter between the kids. So far, there are not too many overly convenient things to help them along. This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I would listen to another. I am interested in finding out what happens next and would like to listen to the next audio book.

This is the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator and I would listen to another. He goes a good job choosing different voices for each character including the female characters. His pace is good and expression appropriate to the story.

There is a minor amount of swearing that feels out of place in a medieval/magic setting. Inappropriate and unnecessary in my opinion. There is no excessive violence or explicit sex.

[Insert Catchy Headline Here]

Wow! It's been awhile since I've dappled in YA Fantasy, but I'm definitely glad I gave this book a listen. The characters do a good job of breaking the mold while maintaining some of the genre's tropes, the world is vivid but not described in painstaking detail, and the plot kept the story going at a good pace and left enough threads open to progress the series along. There were a few moments which were pretty predictable, but that is common in YA Fantasy. Overall, this was a fantastic story and I would highly recommend it!

I received a free copy of this audiobook in return for an honest review.

This was a pretty good fantasy story. It started a bit slow, but once it starts to pick up, it really get's going. I enjoyed the world building and characters very much. The narrator did a good job of bringing the book to life. So, I would definitely be open to more in this series.

Great start to a series and plot twists

Where does Prophecy of Darkness rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

For a first book in a series, it's up there.

What other book might you compare Prophecy of Darkness to and why?

It somewhat resembles the Seven Realms series, but maybe lighter(?)

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Some parts made me what to put the book down, like when the king wanted the forced marriage and the king's forced oversights in general.

Any additional comments?

Great characters that really engage the audience. You want them to do well and feel it when they don't. Th magic system is building, right now it's still fuzzy. And that cliffhanger plot-twist..!! Can't wait to read/listen the next book!

Not bad.

I really liked the narrator in this book. I thought he did more then what I was expecting. I felt whatever the characters felt and I thought that is a difficult thing to do and not a lot of narrators can achieve this. I will difinitely look at his other works.

This is what I would call a typical YA and I did find it predictable. It is not bad but it is not the best that I have read. If you want to read something that doesn't strain the brain then this is for you.

I would still recommend this book but some might like it more then others.

Amazing and Addictive

I was provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator.

I loved this book. I got lost in this world was completely stunned. The world building was great and very intriguing. The characters were all really great and J. M. Needham did a great job doing all the voices of the characters. Especially giving off a dark sinister vibe of the villain.

This book is about a desperate realm that lost their magic in a war. Without magic the land and people will die. Their only hope is the King's son Trystan with the help of his best friend, and his sister. Together they will journey to find the Tri-Gard, the only ones who can bring back magic while their realm is on the verge of war. There is some light romance, strong female characters, betrayal, and prophecies. This book also does a great job explaining how magic works, what led up to the desperation of the King to save his people, and one amazing and gasp worthy ending. This was made better by the great narration that I couldn't get enough of.

I would definitely recommend reading this one and the audiobook does an even better job of transferring you into this world and connecting with the characters.

Great start to a series!

Where does Prophecy of Darkness rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Intriguing first book in a new series which has got me wanting more.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I can't go into detail as to who my favourite character is as it would be a spoiler for the book :-) but he is definitely the character I related to most.

What does J. M. Needham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Well narrated, clear with great inflections.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I completed the book in two days, so yes, very engaging.
