Publisher's Summary

After a violent civil war and the devastation wrought by the now-fallen Darth Caedus, the Galactic Alliance is in crisis and in need. From all corners, politicians, power brokers, and military leaders converge on Coruscant for a crucial summit to restore order, negotiate differences, and determine the future of their unified worlds. But even more critical, and far more uncertain, is the future of the Jedi.

In a shocking move, Chief of State Natasi Daala orders the arrest of Luke Skywalker for failing to prevent Jacen Solo's turn to the dark side and his subsequent reign of terror as a Sith Lord. But it's only the first blow in an anti-Jedi backlash fueled by a hostile government and suspicious public. When Jedi Knight Valin Horn, scion of a politically influential family, suffers a mysterious psychotic break and becomes a dangerous fugitive, the Jedi become the target of a media-driven witch hunt. Facing conviction on the damning charges, Luke must strike a bargain with the calculating Daala: his freedom in exchange for his exile from Coruscant and from the Jedi Order.

Though forbidden to intervene in Jedi affairs, Luke is determined to keep history from being repeated. With his son, Ben, at his side, Luke sets out to unravel the shocking truth behind Jacen Solo's corruption and downfall. But the secrets he uncovers among the enigmatic Force mystics of the distant world Dorin may bring his quest and life as he knows it to a sudden end. And all the while, another Jedi Knight, consumed by the same madness as Valin Horn, is headed for Coruscant on a fearsome mission that could doom the Jedi Order and devastate the entire galaxy.

    "Great star wars story"

This is a great story, and the way is narrated make you think you are actually seeing all the characters from the movie.

    I like it a lot!

    "Boring"

I own 32 Star Wars books from Aduible and this was by far the least exciting. I hope the story picks up. The narrator did a good job.

    "A Promising Start"

A wonderful next chapter after the New Jedi Order series - although some more character development would be welcome - it is definitely a comparable and compelling addition to th3 post canon.

    "This is Star Wars!"

Credit where credit is due. After bumbling through the abridged to death series preceding this novel... I am delighted with everything about Outcast. There is action and adventure to be sure. But the small snippets of comic relief were wonderful. And a more personal father & son relationship between Luke and Ben was simply fantastic. Good story, well narrated, production & music give a true Star Wars feel. Thank you for leaving it intact.

    "Excellent read"

I've always been a big fan of the old republic series, and because of this never really took an interest in Luke skywalker but this changed everything! Definitely and excellent read and Marc Thompson is a truly magnificent narrator.

    "Very slow"

The story was very slow moving and was hard to get through. The only thing that makes it tolerable is the narrator. Marc Thompson does a great job as usual

"So much better than the new canon stuff."

Deep storyline, a shame they abandoned this timeline for the new canon. This series is my favorite Star Wars series ever.

"Sets up the series but full of filler"
If you could sum up Outcast in three words, what would they be?

    Simple, true, prologue

Would you recommend Outcast to your friends? Why or why not?

That will depend on how good the whole series ends up being

Which character – as performed by Marc Thompson – was your favorite?

    Luke

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No, a bit too simple on all ends. Being book 1 and fairly short, there really wasn't much development.
