"Couldn't Get Used to the Narrator"

I ended up listening to the book at 1.5 times the normal speed which made the narrator easier to listen to.

    "Listen at 3x"

The audio is terribly slow so be sure to listen to it sped up. The good thing is the sped up version doesn't sound like chipmunks.

"Terrible narration. Book is otherwise amazing!"
What did you like best about Forward the Foundation? What did you like least?

As the second book in the overall Foundation storyline, Forward the Foundation does a great job of moving the characters and events onwards; it serves as the perfect bridge between the Prelude and the Foundation books. For this specific audible, the narration was absolutely horrendous; that's what I liked the least. It was like William Shatner was told to speak like a robot.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Forward the Foundation?

For me, the most memorable moment was when one of the key characters died, more importantly, how they died.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Larry McKeever?

Scott Brick, who I thought was going to be the narrator for ALL the Foundation books, would've been the better choice. Thankfully, he appears to be the narrator for the other books in the series, which I will be reading (in chronological order of the storyline), so I don't have to suffer through another narration by Larry McKeever.

    Any additional comments?

This is a great second book (based on chronological order in the storyline itself) for the Foundation series and I'm looking forward to moving onto the third: Foundation (which was the original one written in the series).

    "Need a different narrator!"

I believe the story is good, but I never got around to completing it, as I don't like the narrator, Id rather read it myself or wait for a different narrator.

    "Great Story. Painful narration."
Would you try another book from Isaac Asimov and/or Larry McKeever?

    Isaac Asimov - Yes.
    Larry McKeever - No.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Too monotone and too many unnatural pauses. I kept expecting the narrator to say "Greetings Professor Falken".

"Why, oh why, did the narrator change?"
Would you listen to Forward the Foundation again? Why?

I would not listen again... Unless the narrator changed.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Larry McKeever?

Scott Brick was excellent. McKeever is monotone, wooden, emotionless and has horrible pacing.

    Any additional comments?

The foundation series is perhaps my favorite series.

    "Great story, horrible narration."

Where is Scott Brick? He did a wonderful job with the rest of the Foundation novels, yet for some reason both Foundation and Earth and Forward the Foundation are narrated by a glorified Speak & Spell. It's almost unlistenable. What gives?

The collection of stories hearkens to asimov's best. The reader is horrible. Truly a mix of great content and dismal performance.

    "Pretty good"

None of the 4 sequels and prequels were up to the level of the original 3. Asimov did a decent job of wrapping it all up and dovetailing this into the beginning of the series, but I thought it lacked the inspiration of the original work.
The narrator for this was horrible. He was actually slightly better than the other one book he read in the series but still it was so hard to get into because of the poor performance.
