Don’t miss the eagerly anticipated epic new fantasy from Christopher Paolini—Murtagh, coming 11.7.23!

A new adventure hatches in Book One of the Inheritance Cycle, perfect for fans of Lord of the Rings! This New York Times bestselling series has sold over 40 million copies and is an international fantasy sensation.

"Christopher Paolini is a true rarity."—The Washington Post

When fifteen-year-old Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon soon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself.

Overnight his simple life is shattered, and, gifted with only an ancient sword, a loyal dragon, and sage advice from an old storyteller, Eragon is soon swept into a dangerous tapestry of magic, glory, and power. Now his choices could save—or destroy—the Empire.

Critic reviews

"It's an impressive start to a writing career that's sure to flourish." (Booklist)

"Doyle's range of accents is perfect for the multiple characters of this epic....On paper Eragon is a sprawling fantasy, filled with obvious nods to Tolkien and too many convenient plot devices. But on audio, it fills the ears with vivid characters, witty dialogue, and nail-biting battle scenes set in a magical world where a beautiful blue dragon and her rider are at the noble center of it all." (AudioFile)

"An impressive epic fantasy." (Publishers Weekly)

Dragons and Adventure

What more could you ask for? The narration is wonderfully done, You are brought into a different world and you quickly learn to listen, learn and remember - the story is in the details. Elves, dwarves, shades, werecats, famous swords, secret cities and wild adventures.

Wonderful

I downloaded this title for my son and I to listen to while we drove to the beach. I didn't want to STOP listening. This was as good to me as Wizards First Rule, and I could share it with my son.
I too cannot wait until the next one comes out!

the narration was great! his performance was entrancing with careful execution of the character's voices. the story was interesting with questions answered at satisfying and appropriate times. can't wait to listen to the next book in the series. I hope Doyle is reading each of them.

Amazingly detailed

Beautiful narration and amazing story telling. The amount of detail describing each scene and fight is amazing. So much fantasy and such a huge world. You have to pay attention when you listen because you will miss much of you do not.

Bad dragon voice

Plot is great, dialogue is a bit cringe sometimes, and the narrator's voice for the dragon is both bizarre and annoying but other than that pretty good.

Good But...

I enjoy the book series, and the narrator’s voice for most of the voices are fitting, however I don’t know who decided that Saphira thinks with a grumble like that. But I deeply hate it.

I Love This Series So Much But...

I truly enjoy this series. The only issue I have is the voice of Saphira. I kind of wish they had a woman voice her without the graveling growl.

I think that’s at least the one thing the movie got right.
