Lauren Russell often wondered why her father had been so adamant about teaching her skills that most other fathers wouldn't even consider teaching their daughters. Ever since she was little, she had been taught how to live and survive outdoors, and how to use firearms to protect herself and those around her. Some of the training had been a bit extreme. Or had it been? Many of her questions were answered the day the world as she knew it ended.
Ripley's a tomboy at heart who has never met a stranger. Her plans were to finish her veterinary studies and take her family to the country, where life wouldn't be such a struggle. She thought the worst she'd have to deal with at the University of Maryland were the unwelcome advances and attitudes of affluent students, and the occasional East Coast hurricane. She never expected the sun to fall down.

Ethan is a hacker and conspiracy nut living underground. Frank is a family man out camping with friends and family. When a devastating EMP attack in the middle of the night destroys America's infrastructure, they are propelled on an unforgettable journey across an ocean of chaos to reach safety...Safety from an unknown invader and from once-fellow Americans now hungry and desperate.

Does he have the strength - the brutality - required to meet this new world toe-to-toe?
This is not the story of preppers with stockpiles of food, weapons, and a hidden bunker. This is the story of Colton Ryman, his stay-at-home wife, Madison, and their teenage daughter, Alex. In 36 Hours, the Ryman family and the rest of the world will be thrust into the darkness of a post-apocalyptic world.
If society collapsed, could you survive? When Morgan Carter's car breaks down 250 miles from his home, he figures his weekend plans are ruined. Then, near the end of her freshman year, it happens.
As a prepper, Grayson Rowan was prepared for almost anything...anything other than being totally alone when the sh*t hits the fan. While he sat back and watched the US rattle swords with Korea, play chicken with Russia, and strong-arm China, he felt sure if the lights went out that he and his family would be ready and safe. What he wasn't prepared for was his family not being home if it ever happened. Olivia Rowan is with her sisters, Gabby and Emma, on a girls-only trip to Myrtle Beach. Graysie Rowan, a freshman at university, just wants to go home.
Five years after a pneumonic plague killed two-thirds of the world's population, army veteran Marcus Battle is isolated. He's alone with his guns, his food, and the graves of his wife and child. Unaware of the chaos that's befallen everything outside of his central Texas ranch land, Marcus lives a Spartan life. If anyone steps onto his property, he shoots first and never asks questions. But when a woman in distress, chased by marauders, seeks asylum, Marcus has a decision to make.
Pre-med student Coral is on vacation in Idaho when something terrible happens. The black cloud is followed by a wildfire and searing heat that lasts for days. She survives deep in a cave but emerges days later to find the world transformed, with blackened trees, an ash-filled sky, and no living creatures stirring - except for her. So begins her desperate journey to find water and food and other survivors...and the answer to the mystery of what happened.
Author Chris Pike's debut novel Unexpected World is a gritty and compelling survival tale about human courage and steadfast determination to live, to endure, and to persevere against all odds. Assistant District Attorney Dillon Stockdale is on the phone with his daughter when an EMP obliterates the entire electrical grid of the United States. Anything relying on a computer is fried, including the plane his daughter is on.
Reagan McClane is a prodigy med school student on the brink of a brilliant career, but the United States and the rest of the world are headed toward total economic and social collapse. And it doesn't take more than a few hours for mass crime, looting, and pillaging to spread across the country like a plague. A brutal attack at her university leads to a fight for her life before Reagan barely makes it home to the safety of her awaiting grandparents and sisters on their family farm in Tennessee.
Three months after life as she knows it was decimated, Megan Wolford has only one goal: protect her daughter, Caitlin, at any cost. When a mysterious illness strikes Caitlin down, Megan is forced to forage for medical supplies at a remote lodge. The last thing she wants is help from her fellow survivors when so many in her life have let her down - but soon she'll find herself with no other option.
When massive solar flares wipe out the technological infrastructure and kills billions, Rachel Wheeler sets out across the Appalachian Mountain wilderness in search of her notorious grandfather's survival compound.
Rachel is separated from her traveling companions and is captured by Zapheads, violent mutants who are gathering in packs and collecting dead bodies while mimicking human behaviors. Then she undergoes startling changes herself, as her friends are hunted by a rogue military platoon that wants to impose its own law and order in the world of After.
Can Rachel and her fellow survivors make the dangerous journey to Milepost 291 and evade the Zapheads long enough to form a new society and preserve the human race?

I love this series. It took a bit to get into because I'm a walking dead fan, but that has nothing to do with these books they take you to a whole different place and that's great. I listened to them back to back now I'm sad it is over. I can not wait to listen to the rest when they become available. The narrator is now my favorite he does a great job. I'm going to look into more of his books. I received these books for my unbiased opinion and that's what I gave.

What did you love best about After: Milepost 291?
This book will make you laugh and make you angry. Great Book
Who was your favorite character and why?
Dante is my favorite character because he always seems to squeak out of trouble.
What does Kevin Clay bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Kevin does a Super job bringing all the characters to life.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There was a moment in the book that really made me angry. I am not going to give it away, you will just have to order the book. Once you get to a particular section you will instantly know why it made me angry.
I really liked this book. I'm not normally a reader of zombie books, but I've liked this series so far. Nicholson keeps it interesting with a kind of twist on the average zombie book, and has interesting characters and plot. I've come to care about the characters, and was bummed about "Rachel's" situation. This saga has kept me intrigued and engaged, and I can't wait to see what happens next. I listened to the Audible version of this book and have enjoyed the narration by Kevin Clay. His reading sounds effortless and comfortable, and he gives a unique voice to each character. Overall, if you like zombie books, I would highly suggest this series, and even if you don't tend toward zombie fiction, don't write off this book - give a shot - you might be surprised that you like it.
