Publisher's summary

Kellan Thorne loves the Christmas season above all else. He plans a well-deserved rest consisting of parties with friends and watching Christmas classics with Shannon. The Sentinel definitely wants to avoid anything more supernatural than the spirits seen by Dicken's Ebenezer Scrooge. However, fate has different plans for Kellan and his Soulborn who find themselves swept up with gods, goddesses, and mantles of immense power.

As the eternal battle between order and chaos continues to play out, Kellan quickly finds himself at odds with forces beyond both his understanding and ability to control. Lucifer weaves new webs of intrigue with which he seeks to entrap both Meghan and Juliet and pits Maurius against Kellan at every turn.

New and familiar allies put their lives on the line as an enigmatic Druid from Kellan's past promises the Sentinel power sufficient to make both the mountains of heaven and caverns of hell quake with fear. Such tremendous strength comes at a price which Kellan and Shannon must decide if they are willing to pay. To safeguard all those he holds dear, Kellan must breach a celestial treasury sealed shut at the dawn of creation and pull forth a wizard's soul.

Totally made me laugh out loud and cry a min later

A Wizard's Soul is the point in this series where I become absolutely convinced it needs to be a movie or, better yet, an Amazon series.

There is time travel that harkens back to the first book. There are tons of new characters that somehow all get the space to breath additional life into an already vibrant world.

We get a glimpse of mythological gods, goddesses, and wizards (obviously). You will recognized the wizard and, like Kellan, say "No way, dude, just no way." Well...way!

All of my favorites are back with Kellan and Shannon continuing to move their relationship forward in an amazingly "normal" way despite their very abnormal lives. Juliet is dating which, of course, freaks Kellan out to no end and caused me to laugh out loud because I can totally see the scenes happening. I love his referencing how she's attached to her boyfriend like the "Kraken bringing down a ship."

There's a scene where the wizard speaks with his mother that brought streams of tears, then the epilogue contrasts that previous sadness with something so amazingly joyful that I took notes because I want that for myself <grin>

Paging Jeff Bezos...have someone contact this author.

Great continuation of the Series

Nick Podehl is great, as is to be expected. The source material leads to great moments throughout. Characters returning in unexpected ways, but in re-listens, I'm amazed I didn't hear it coming. Foreshadowing books in advance and paying off so well.

Keep a box of tissues

Whether you're laughing hysterically, mourning a character's misfortune, or you have a soft spot for cute stuff and romance, this book will probably make you cry. Worth reading. Can't wait for the next installment.

Demons Run When a Good Man g--aaand I'm shot.

That title would've worked without alteration too, but whatevs.

Book three in this series is still going strong! I have left review on the other two as well because I marathoned these in roughly a week. Let me just say they were all well worth the credit. There is an uncanny ability for this series to start with LITERAL big G god and creation and still manage to effectively raise stakes and climax from book to book. I will say that despite the fact this third book brings us even more interaction with The Goblin Prince of Lies(see what I did there?) He isn't unlikeable. It's really more of a Voldemort/Umbridge situation. I should dislike him, but I really just..well I'll let you figure out how Umbridge is in this book.

The stakes are higher here, and we get to see Kellan brought more into the realm of Mantles and other powerful players, simultaneously being seen on their playing field, while nowhere near on their level. We also get to see Meghan and Juliet and other side charcters have active and developed lives, making them people as opposed to background props for the main character to utilize as necessary.

I'm thoroughly excited for more.

Didn't Stop Me

I had a hard time keeping up. I was a bit confused on how Kellan seemed to "create" but not create. Excited for the next book.

Brilliant story from a brilliant author.

I'm a huge fan of this series and Robert does a brilliant job in creating a thoroughly engaging world and enchanting characters. Even extras who only appear for a scene or two manage to leave an impression, giving you the sense that you're experiencing a real world we might just not know about.

What a Wedding.

They sometimes say that an author draws on life to create the stories that are written. Hmmm, is this how you got married Ross? Another fabulous book glad to hear I have 4 more to get through. Looking forward to going through your catalog.

Super Creative License with Existing Characters!

Great listen and read! This author really taps into the zeitgeist of nerd / fantasy culture! My life experience and history in popular culture is put on panoramic display as the author makes amazing reference to characters, shows, and movies that were part of my childhood world. These same instances are what drove me to love science fiction and fantasy!
