Publisher's summary

Of the five contenders for power, one is dead, another in disfavor, and still the wars rage as violently as ever, as alliances are made and broken. Joffrey, of House Lannister, sits on the Iron Throne, the uneasy ruler of the land of the Seven Kingdoms. His most bitter rival, Lord Stannis, stands defeated and disgraced, the victim of the jealous sorceress who holds him in her evil thrall. But young Robb, of House Stark, still rules the North from the fortress of Riverrun. Robb plots against his despised Lannister enemies, even as they hold his sister hostage at King's Landing, the seat of the Iron Throne. Meanwhile, making her way across a blood-drenched continent is the exiled queen, Daenerys, mistress of the only three dragons still left in the world....

But as opposing forces maneuver for the final titanic showdown, an army of barbaric wildlings arrives from the outermost line of civilization. In their vanguard is a horde of mythical Others, a supernatural army of the living dead whose animated corpses are unstoppable. As the future of the land hangs in the balance, no one will rest until the Seven Kingdoms have exploded in a veritable storm of swords....

Featured Article: The Best Audiobook Series of All Time by Genre

What makes a good audiobook series? There are as many answers to this question as there are listeners. For some, it might be epic battles. For others, it might be ongoing romantic twists and tensions. For still others, it might be elongated character studies or an in-depth analysis of a particular time and place. But the universal element of a truly great series is that it sticks with you long after the last word. These are our favorites from every major genre.

AMAZING!

What can you say about A Storm of Swords. The twists and turns just keep coming and coming. The beginning is a little slow, but, man, once you hit about the 33% mark you can't put it down. So good, can't say enough good things about Roy Dotrice and George R.R. Martin! #ASOIAF #AGameOfThrones #GRRM #GreatListen #GreatRead #Audible #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

Chapters out of order

While the presentation was wonderful, the chapters are out of order. I reached the epilogue at chapter 25 of 47. Please fix this before I buy the next book

Great Story and Narration

10/10. I read most of the book before finishing it on audible. The performance by Roy Dotrice was spectacular. What a joy to listen to. The way that he did all of the characters’ voices and emotions was awesome. You really get into the story. Highly recommended!!!

Keep listening!

Still not my favorite narrator, but you get used to him. The entire Song of Fire and Ice series is a must-read/listen. The written work has so much more detail than the HBO production. Moving onward to the next!

So good, I could stop here and be happy.

If you could sum up A Storm of Swords in three words, what would they be?

ep·i·logue!!!

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Storm of Swords?

In the epilogue. Bigger than the weddings in my opinion. Cant wait to learn more.

What does Roy Dotrice bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He reads the book and pulls you in. With the writing and story telling, its almost like you are there.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laugh some. No tears.

Excellent Series

What did you love best about A Storm of Swords?

I really love this story. This is the third book in the series and it just keeps getting better. Everyday I look forward to hearing what is going to happen next.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I started out in the first book with Ned being my favorite character, but he was quickly replaced by Arya.

Have you listened to any of Roy Dotrice’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have only listened to Roy Dotrice perform the two previous books in this series. I like the fact that I can tell which character is which just from hearing the different voices that he uses. The only two that sound relatively the same are Jamie and Tyrion, but I guess since they are brothers that could be possible.

Any additional comments?

I agree with a few other reviewers that there is to much singing,(I don't think Roy Dotrice is known for his singing) but since this is unabridged that is the way the book was written so we just have to deal with it. Otherwise this is a excellent series!! Really enjoying it.
