Publisher's Summary

From New York Times best-selling author Lauren Blakely.

Let's say there was this guy. And he gave you the most mind-blowing night of sex in your life. And you never saw him again.

Until 10 years later.

Now, it turns out he's the only one in all of Manhattan whose restaurant is available for my charity's event. The trouble is, he doesn't recognize me.

This woman I'm working with is so damn alluring. The first time I set eyes on her, I'm captivated and I can't get her out of my mind. Even if it's risky to tango with someone I'm working with, she's a risk I'm willing to take.

The trouble is, she won't give me the time of day.

But I'm determined to change that.

Narrated by Zachary Webber and Andi Arndt the ONLY ONE begins with a prologue from ten years ago on the night Penny waits in Manhatten for Gabriel. The two met in Barcelona and spent passionate days together. With Gabriel coming to America for a position as a Chef, the two arranged to reunite at a set time and place before she departs. Expect Gabriel never showed, never called and broke Penny's heart.

Penny has changed a lot in the last ten years and was almost engaged, but that hasn't stopped her from thinking about Gabriel. When her assistant books appointments for her to see caterers for her picnic in the park event to support her Little Friends Animal Rescue she finds Gabriel listed. I enjoyed the build up to the meeting and could imagine calling my BFF in for help if facing an old lover that ended without closure.

When Penny finally works up the never to attend the meeting she is crushed when he doesn't recognize her. Gabriel, on the other hand, is convinced she is his long lost love Penelope but the woman before him looks drastic different and isn't working in the corporate world as she planned. He asks questions, but when she denies a connection, he asks her out to dinner. What follows is a quirky, adorkable romance complete with cute puppies, advice from girlfriends and flashbacks to their love affair.

I enjoyed THE ONLY ONE and Blakely certainly does an excellent job of sharing the past and building the romance. I did, however, miss the humor and development I have previously enjoyed in her full-length stories. I struggled a little with Penny and her handling of their first meeting. When he asked certain things, I felt she was deceptive, but they quickly moved on from that. I thought the reasons for Gabriel missing their meeting ten years ago were valid. Thankfully the romance was low on drama and high on romance. I adored Penny's pup and the playful descriptions of her.

The narration was delightful. I enjoy the pairing of these two. Both handle the opposite sex voices quite well, and their pacing and tone work well together. I would listen to this duo again.

    "Great Second Chance Novella"

I love a good second chance story! With them already having a past I always feel like I don't need as much background to fall in love along with the characters. Gabriel and Penny have great chemistry which was very surprising for a novella because usually they are too short to really feel the connection. Lauren Blakely did a fantastic job of bringing this story to life with such a short amount of time to make us fall in love!

The narration is something that I need to say had some flaws for me. Don't get me wrong both narrators are excellent but they were not consistent in this audiobook. This is all about the accent, Zachary Webber didn't give Gabriel an accent but Andi Arndt did, it was a little distracting for me but didn't ruin the audiobook by any means!!

The sexy banter between the two characters.

I love their voices. They are always so into the story that you truly believe they are the characters.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Gabriel's apology was the best part! He's the perfect man.

    Any additional comments?

This is an epic second chance romance that filled my heart with love, hope and longing. The Only One is sweet, savory and sexy. And now, I'm off to have dessert!

    "Loved it"
Would you consider the audio edition of The Only One to be better than the print version?

I loved this book when I first read it and I loved it more when I listened to it.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Only One?

The first time Penny and Gabriel saw each other for the first time. Poor Gabriel was clueless about who she really was.

What about Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber ’s performance did you like?

Both Andi and Zachary are amazing narrators. Andi's performance was flawless, her voice for Penny and inflexions for other characters were perfect for this book. And despite Zachary did an excellent job with Gabriel, he didn't do something very important for this book: His sexy accent. That was the only thing missing in this audiobook for it to be perfect.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

It's never too late to be with your true love!!

    Any additional comments?

This second chance romance is beautiful and sexy, full of love an passion. I loved reliving this story again with the audiobook, I listened in one sitting, 100% recommended.

    "Delicious second chance at LOVE"
What made the experience of listening to The Only One the most enjoyable?

I loved the story behind it but what really enhanced the experience this time around were the narrators who were a perfect cast for these characters.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Gabriel, I loved his free nature and his oblivion to the most obvious things that were right in front of him and his mind was screaming to him to get the puzzle right he still couldn't put a finger on it*laughing*

A wonderful character in the Lauren Blakely collection.

What does Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Both Andi and Zachary were amazing as they usually are.
But my favorite in this narration was Zachary!
His voice was a match made in heaven for Gabriel and his preformance for Penny was flawless as well and felt so natural and real.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Absolutely!
    And I did just that!

    Any additional comments?

A fun and light story with the perfect amount of angst and steam and undeniable romance.
    Definitely recommended!

    "Short and sweet"

This was a short and sweet listen. Even though this was a shorter story, all that we've come to know and love from Lauren Blakely was there. This was my first time hearing Zachery Webber's narration, and I really liked it. He was very connected with the characters and just overall very good. The dual narration was great with this duo. I was offered this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. And, I'm glad a agreed to do it.

What can I say besides Lauren Blakely once again bringing sexy and delightful to us. Yes a shorter story but oh so swoon worthy. Can I just say I need me Gabriel. He will steal your heart from the moment you meet him. And so will Penny. Delightful from the first page to the last.
The narrating was wonderful and so well fitting for the characters.

"Hot 2nd chance Romance inthe kitchen is heating up"
If you could sum up The Only One in three words, what would they be?

    Sweet, Romantic, Swoon Worthy

Who was your favorite character and why?

Nichole was my favorite character. She told it like it was and didnt beat around the bush about it either. She was quite relatable as is all of the characters are in this book but for me she just stuck out more to me and how she looked at men...lol

    Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene was when they finally had the blow out and actually talked about what happened 10 years earlier. How it made each of them feel and how Gabriel still tried to contact her even tho she felt like he just left her waiting. Then when she shows up 10 years later at that exact spot and what is waiting for her then.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book gives you all the feelers and more,,, I made me happy and sad and I laughed. it had angst and so much more that I didn't want it to end.

    Any additional comments?

I absolutely love this book when it first came out awhile ago. I read it then and was excited to hear that it would be eventually be on audio and that Zachary Webber and Andi Arndt were the narrators . I was completely stoked but I was a little dissappointed that Zachary Webber didn't do the accent for Gabriel but he still did an amazing job with the story. i also felt Andi Arndt did an amazing job narrating. This is a 5 star read/listing all aound, great story line.character that you can connect with. A quick but fulfilling read that leaves you swooning for more!

"The One that will never get away again!"

I loved this sweet, sexy and emotional, second chance romance! It is a story of miscommunication and understanding that cause heartbreak for two young and passionate lovers. Now a decade later and still unable to give their hearts to anyone else, Penny and Gabriel have a chance meeting. Will they be able to reconcile the hurt feelings and time between them to have a second chance at love? This novella is the perfect example of how these stories should be written. It allowed us to understand both Penny and Gabriel, then & now, and the eternal passion and love they have for each other. This multifaceted tale was fun and flirty, sweet and sexy, while giving me the emotional attachment I crave. Both narrators were fabulous bringing these characters to life. I would have loved a more European accent performed for sexy Gabriel but that didn't hold me back from losing myself in their world. I loved every minute of this story and audio and you will too!

"Holy Hot Chef!! Gabriel is Heavenly!!!"

I don't know how Lauren Blakely dreams up these beautiful men, but I am so grateful she does. Gabriel is the hottest chef around, and Penny is the sweet dog rescuer.

Having met 10 years prior, Gabriel and Penny had an explosive and beautiful fling. Circumstances separated them, and they've excelled in their respective careers. Gabriel, the superstar chef, has had his share of beautiful women. Penny, who runs a rescue shelter, has dated, but none of them compare to the memory of Gabriel.

No spoilers, but when they finally get back together, the heat between these two is intense. Ten years has given them both the maturity and confidence to go after what's important to them. Gabriel is determined that Penny won't get away this time, and he's pulling out all the stops to show her they were meant to be together. This is one of the most beautiful love stories I've read. Lauren knows how to bring the heat and dirty talking hotties, but she also knows how to give you feels. You can't help but root for these two, and know that fate has had a hand in the past 10 years for both of them. I absolutely loved this story, and would love to get more Gabriel and Penny!

Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber do a phenomenal job narrating this second-chance, feel way, way good story. I was hoping Zachary did Gabriel's accent as Andi did, but that didn't make his narrating any less hot. Bravo!!

    "A thoroughly enjoyable listen"

An epic story packed into a beautiful novella.

Lauren weaved all her usual storytelling magic you get in a novel in this novella. Plenty of time to develop a connection to the main characters and get drawn into the second chance love storyline. Why things didn't happen the first time round with Gabriel and Penny, what will happen this time round?

What I love about Lauren's novella's are that they are never rushed, they are planned out and the endings are well executed.

Both narrators did an excellent job, two of my favourites here.

    "Amazing and sexy short story!"

    I love love love it!!!

The story was sexy, hot and funny! Lauren once again has not disappoint me with her story. And the narrators? They were just perfect. I felt all the right feels listening to them.

The story is about that one night that changed life of two people Penny and Gabriel. They met few years back but because of unfortunate events they were separated. Penny thought Gabriel stood her up and she decided to never make the same mistake. Until she meets him again.

I love the story for it's humour, wittiness and all the right feels.

    I definitely 5 stars!

    "Great second chance!"

I really enjoyed listening to this book by Lauren Blakely. Andi Arndt and Zackary Webber are two of my favorite performers. I was not bothered by the fact that Gabriel did not have a French or Brazilian accent when his POV was performed by Zackary Webber, while I did enjoy Andi Arndt giving him an accent when she performed Penny's POV. This book was sweet and short, it has some humor, and a great second chance at love storyline. I think Shortcake was one of my favorite characters, and a great judge. I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, narrator, and or publisher.

Love both of these narrators, but the female POV gave him an accent, but when the male narrator (Webber) was talking he didn't.

"Great novella, adding nicely to the series"

This novella is a gorgeous story of second chances, one that comes ten years later. THE ONLY ONE is
less of a rom-com feel, rather a contemporary read without as many witty quips and having recently read/listened to a number of Lauren Blakely's rom-cons, I enjoyed the change in pace.

The characters meet for a work deal unexpectedly after missing a planned meet ten years ago. I loved Gabriel, chef and restaurant owner, Spanish and all over nice guy. Penny was sweet but still nursing some hurt. I loved their build of interactions, connection and chemistry.

The book is narrated by two of my favourite narrators, Zachery Webber and Andi Arndt and they did a good job, however I do have a niggle. Gabriel was Spanish and described as having an accent, yet the male narrator was straight American. Then, when the female POV narrated male dialogue, she did it with a Spanish accent. This was rather disconcerting, but I went with the flow and still enjoyed it.

A copy of this audiobook was provided by the author in return for an honest review.
