Editorial reviews

Ever notice that sometimes a guy will do something really stupid, like let the love of his life slip through his fingers? Yeah. I'm that guy. But the instant I run into her again I've got one goal and one goal only—a second chance. The plan? Go big or go home. Fine, at first glance, stripping naked at my ex-girlfriend's place of work might not seem like the brightest way to win her heart again. But trust me on this count—she always liked me best without any clothes on. And sometimes you've got to play to your strengths when you're fighting an uphill battle. As a lawyer, I know how to fight, and I'm prepared to fight hard for her. Because sometimes you need a second chance at first love.

He's the one who got away...

The nerve of Tyler Nichols to reappear like that at my job, showing off his rock-hard body that drove me wild far too many nights. That man with his knowing grin and mischievous eyes is nothing but a cocky jerk to saunter back into my life. Except, what if he's not . . .? I've tried like hell to forget him, but maybe I'm cursed to remember the guy I fell madly in love with eight years ago. Lord knows I'm not over him, so what's the harm in giving him a week to prove he's changed in the ways that matter?

After all, how do you resist the hot one..?

Unbelievable! Couldn't Relate at All!

I really wanted to like this book and had high expectations. Andi and Zachary are two of my favorite narrators and this book has them giving dual pov. The reason I didn't finish had nothing to do with the narration. The narrators were good as always. It was the behavior of the characters. The prologue is Tyler and Delaney had a romantic relationship during college and were in love. Tyler decides he can't continue his relationship because it will interfere with his goal of becoming a lawyer so he breaks up with Delaney and never contacts her again. Fast forward 8 years. Tyler just happens to see Delaney running through the park and instantly memories of her, his great love, come back. He remembers that he broke her heart and that it was what he had to do. But now he wants to reconnect with her and he always gets what he wants. He send her a fbook message asking to meet which she turns down. Then he tracks down her phone number and calls talking to her like its old times, sends her flowers and she still refuses him reminding him of how he hurt her. He tells her he's sorry which was new to me as the reader because he never expressed regret in his inner monologues, just his memories and the desire to see her again. A friend advises him that he will need to make a grand gesture so he makes an appointment with her and shows up undressing as he tells her he is sorry for the cold way he broke up with her. Once he is completely nude he tells her that this is how he's showing her he's sorry. As she looks at his gorgeous body noting his sculpted muscles and perfect penis she decides she can't be angry anymore. Really?! That's the grand gesture?! How does that prove anything? And what was the thought process? The reader is given no reflection back on his feelings at the time he broke up with her. Did he experience heartbreak. He did say that he sometime thought of her and he never had any relationship since. But there is nothing said that indicates he regretted the breakup until she brings it up to him ...and then he's sorry... I don't get it. And I don't get how him getting naked shows he's sorry and gets her to let go of the hurt. Relationships are more than sexual attraction, and I admire a good male physique just as much as anyone, but that display would have p*ssed me off! All that display showed was a desire to f*ck and nothing else. As a reader, I need to be able to understand and relate and I couldn't relate to that at all!

The Hot One Stars

I love books like these, a good second chance romance. I really loved how they both had to get over past hurts to truly make a second chance worth it.

Tyler was just yummy and I have to say switching narrators was perfect because Zachary Webber was the perfect voice for Tyler.

Tyler really puts himself out there in this book, I think it was genius that when their eyes meet again after so long they both felt that thing. And that Tyler was as truthful as he could be because he honestly wanted another chance to make it right.

When you know, you know.

It took me a little more time to warm up to Delaney maybe because I wanted her to forgive and forget to fast. But I think what turned it around for me was that she did make him work a little more for it to truly prove that he was in it for her.

I also loved that Andi Arndt was the voice of Delaney she really brought out some of that emotion that you need with a book like this.

Love it, recommend. Lauren Blakely kills a Rom Com like no one else.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

TRUE TO FORM, LB DELIVERED A SIGHWORTHY LOVE STORY

All I can do is concur with the rest of my fellow listener's glowing reviews over this virtually angst-free dual POV contemporary romance because Tyler's heartfelt mission to win Delaney back was a very sweet listen indeed. Yes, he loved her once but still deliberately broke her heart by choosing to focus on a career over love, however in hindsight, he owned up to his mistake.. and excelled at wooing cautious Delaney back. And Delaney was right to tread warily, carefully dismantle the wall between them brick by brick, protect her heart and confide in her best friends while taking tentative steps forward to second chances and HEA's.

Their journey back to each other was nicely paced, had sizzling chemistry, smooth easy banter, humor, sexy scenes, dirty words and romantic gestures.. and the 'expected' romance drama never materialized.. which made it easy-going too. These loveable characters story was safely in the hands of two excellent narrators who brought to life the warmth between lovers, the trust between friends.. and the vulnerabilities felt when you give love a second chance.

Worth a credit? You know what your going to get with a Lauren Blakely book.. and she doesn't disappoint her fans - so YES another creditworthy listen from a trusted Author.

The Queen of Rom Com does it again!!

Lauren Blakely is the Rom Com Queen I mean seriously this women is a writing machine!! Tyler is HOT, he is confident and he jumps in with both feet!! Delaney is sassy, fun and perfect for Tyler! I love a second chance romance the best! While I felt like this was the least steamy of Lauren's books I still loved it so much! I liked was that Tyler was actually a little quirky instead of Delaney, that was a fun twist! I loved how they had a lot of differences but also a lot in common, that makes them seem like a real couple. The way they just eased right back into a relationship was sweet especially since she didn't make it easy for him to get his second chance. I also loved all the cameo's from the other men in her books, it was like a little visit with old friends!

This cover is perfect, Tyler can strip for me any day ;)
Great second chance romance <3

ONE HOT, STEAMY & SWEET SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE!

Wow, Blakely Does It Again!

She manages to deliver another hit, and amps up the steam and chemistry in this one! I loved every minute. Tyler and Delaney's story had me helplessly glued to my headphones! It was an awesome second chance story, but it moves so fast, it almost felt like an instant love story. Tyler and Delaney haven't seen each other in eight years, but from the moment their paths cross, their push/pull relationship takes off like a rocket 🚀!

Delaney was still a little hurt from Tyler breaking things off with her when they were in college. But even after all this time, he was still the STAR in her nightly fantasies, and every time she pulled out her battery operated toy. From the moment Tyler sees Delaney, he knows he has to win her back. He's not sure if it's regret or love, but he's determined to make her his, and does some WILDLY CRAZY things to prove how serious he is about her. Tyler's character had me smiling, swooning, blushing, and craving more!

These narrators knocked it out of the park! Zachary has a great voice, and did an amazing job with Tyler's character. Andi, she's a pro, and everything she narrates is flawless. Andi is one of my favorite narrators.

The Hot One was fabulous, and my credit was well spent. The story is dialogue driven with no wasted words or unnecessary description. Each scene gets right to the point, and more importantly to all the steamy bits! I was torn between four and five stars, but met in the middle with a 4.5. (No cliffhangers, and of course a sweet & steamy HEA.) I'm looking forward to seeing what Blakely brings to audio next!

Just kind of boring.

First, I am pretty tired of second chance stories where the girl is smoking hot, intelligent and a desirable person in every way but has no guy around her and still longs for the guy from X years ago. It's tiresome. This was a simple story, so simple it bored me and I started skipping. Sorry, not sorry, but from the moment she sees him again she's just putty, after he threw her away years ago and that irritates and bores me.. After reading 7 chapters I ended up skipping to check in on where the story was every 5 chapters or so and then cut to the end. I don't know why this is so highly rated accept for the narration.

Seriously Not Good

So, I LOVE listening to Zachary Webber and Andi Arndt, but I just couldn’t hang on to this one. I even went back to look at the reviews. Maybe they were terrible but I ignored them. NOPE. Mostly good, and I just can’t figure out why. I am an extreme romance reader and often really enjoy stories that others rate poorly. This one, however, I got bored before the end if the first chapter and went straight to the last chapter and called it a day. Go ahead and read it. It’s your credit. I have the romance package so happily, it didn’t cost me a thing!

Anti climatic And a waste of a credit

Basically I love these 2 narrators And thought that they would not read something like this. But I guess I will have to be a bit more selective and I will start with not picking another selection from this author. This was boring and anti climatic. Just glad it wasn't that long😑

Delicious HOTness

What delicious hotness! Like all other books by Blakely, this story was an absolutely entertaining audiobook. With well-developed characters, well-crafted dialogue, a well-paced plot and well-timed sexy time, this love story is deliciously engaging. Of course, how could it not with an amazing author and a fabulous narrator?

While the author promotes these books as stand-alones, they are related and I'd recommend reading them in order for maximum enjoyment. This group of friends and aquaintances are great!

Absolutely loved this!!!

Delaney has been nursing a broken heart for several years, thanks to Tyler, her college sweetheart. She’s made a good life for herself, has great friends, and a job she truly loves. She’s dated, but no one can seem to measure up to Tyler Nichols, as much as she hates to admit that.

Tyler is temptation on a stick, not unlike his cousin and fellow Alpha hottie, Clay. Partnering with Clay, Tyler has become a very successful entertainment attorney. One day, while out with Clay’s daughter at the park, Tyler happens to see Delaney, and his world is turned upside down.

Tyler feels terrible about their breakup, and tries to make amends. Delaney isn’t going to make it easy on him. She doesn’t trust him with her heart, but she’s intrigued by the man he seems to have become. Their chemistry certainly hasn't dissipated, and it's hard to ignore. But is that all there is between them? Tyler hopes not, and pulls out all the stops and turns on the Nichols charm, full wattage. God help Delaney!

I don’t want to give any spoilers, but you feel for both Tyler and Delaney in this story. You understand the decisions they made early in their lives—not necessarily agree w/them—and you see how these decisions made them the people they are today. This was a beautifully told story, with the heat you’ve come to expect from Lauren. I swear that dirty-talking gene must be in the Nichols bloodline.

Zachary Webber does a great job as Tyler--and all the other guys in this story. I feel even more in lust with Oliver when Zachary put his voice to what I read. As always, the lovely Andi Arndt does a great job as Delaney. They both put lots of feels into their narrating, and I love it!!

Lauren always gives her hero/heroine great and supportive friends and family, and there is no shortage here. Side note: I’ve fallen in lust with someone in this book, and I hope to see him again. There’s also a few appearances from her previous books, and you can’t help but swoon remembering their various stories.
