Publisher's Summary

Another night at the races is more than burnt rubber with a hit of nitrous. For one young woman, it's navigating trauma, love, and loss in the stifling Texas heat under the watchful gaze of her brother’s best friend and reigning King of the Streets, Jordan Slater. Home in Arkadia again, Raelynn Casey starts to heal from a terrible incident at college. She finds love in Jordan, a member of her brother’s circle of racing buddies. When another in the racing circle, the guy who took her to her high school prom, exposes his feelings for Raelynn, tragedy erupts like a tank of race fuel. Guilt, remorse, and pain must be overcome before Raelynn and Jordan can race to The Finish Line.

Didn't Hold My Intererest

The book didn't grab my attention at all. From the beginning, there were too many characters and back stories to keep up. Then as I continued to listen, the book just seemed too juvenile for me. I'm not a fan of "high school romance take two" romances. I stopped listening midway.

Racing and Love mix well

All in all the story was good. I thought there were some really intense scenes in the book. Some were sad, some were happy and some were just plain intense. You’ll experience a lot of feelings while listening to this book but that’s not always a bad thing. There is good amount of background provided about the main characters and it’s sweet that Raelynn and Jordan have loved each other for so long. Of course there is some angst in the book when someone tries to come between the main characters but they find a way through it and make out together. The narration was ok, not the best I’ve heard but defiantly not the worst. The racing scenes were enjoyable and very well described. If you like love stories and racing I’m sure you’ll like this one.

Entertaining

I got this book via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. This story was entertaining from the beginning. The narrator was not to my liking but the story was good. I was sad about the death of one of the drivers. The romance was a little strange. She had been in love with him since she was a preteen and he was much older but she maintained that love and they finally got together after she grew up. He knew she was the one but waited for her to grow up. The races were described in great detail and fit right in. The whole story was entertaining even though there were some trite moments.

Finish Line Review...

Decent story and narration. Intense, sad, joyful. Narration okay - got used to her twang; but the the quality of narration production is not consistent first 2/3 of the book - seemed muffled at times. I Could Not Finish to Get to The Finish Line

I have listened up until chapter 6 and simply cannot listen anymore to this book. I feel that with the right narrator, that this books could be awesome, however, the narration is less than desirable with mispronounced words, background noise, the in and outs of the voice that simply do not match the volume and the tinny sound make this book unbearable

Fantastic Story Telling

I wasn't sure what to expect when I read the blurb on this but it sounded intriguing. Am I glad I read this! Its intense in so many fantastic ways. Sometimes you will want to scream in frustration and others whoop in joy. This will make you feel ALL THE FEELS. The story is well paced and isn't just sex. It builds up all the characters and really lets you fall in love with each of them. You feel like you are on the streets with them. My dad used to Street Race and this brought back the thrill of what I'm sure he felt! I was just a wee baby when he ran his last few races and was un-defeatable in this area. This book is full of action, romance, secrets and thrills. I couldn't get enough of this story. I actually hope she does one from his perspective one day. This is a fabulous story and I would gladly read another perspective on it!! First book I've read by Leslie Scott and I'm in love with how she weaves a story. Giselle Lumas did an amazing job narrating this story!

So Much More Than I Expected!

I was intrigued by the book blurb. I was thinking this might be a Fast and the Furious meets Romance book, and it more or less is. Totally enjoyable. Street Racing is a foreign concept to me, yet I know it happens. Leslie Scott wrote a book full of action, romance, heartbreak, healing and redemption. I loved how the main characters discovered what was truly important. Giselle Lumas did a great performance with her distinguished voices for various characters and putting the right emotions into her voice. GREAT BOOK!

I absolutely loved this book! This book was full of action and romance. The narration was superb and gave that extra flair to the story. You don't have to know not one single thing about street racing to be entertained. This author did a great job with her characters builds and plot. This was my first book by this author but definitely will not be my last. I will be looking forward to reading any other books released in this series (hopefully, she'll make it a series)! Emotionally rich street racing romance!

Jordan and Raelynn's story is rich with detail, street racing, street justice, history, trauma, family and love. Raelynn returns home to the illegal street racing community she has always been a part of, the man she has always loved ( but who rejected her), and to her family. Unfortunately she returns as a changed woman. She has emotional baggage and a visceral reaction to intimacy.

Turns out relationships between various characters aren't quite what they seen, including Raelynn and Jordan. As the air between them clears and lines are drawn, Raelynn and Jordan may have a chance to get together. Of course their union doesn't come without incident.

I didn't know much about the street racing culture and found this part of the story very interesting. Leslie Scott has also included a lot of emotional detail in the plot. Despite the incidents in this story taking place over only a few months, it is heavily influenced by the characters' shared pasts and has ramifications into their futures.

Overall the story was rich with detail and wonderfully romantic. It is really quite enjoyable.
