Publisher's Summary

Blythe Coopman never imagined she'd be homeless, but a series of events has landed her on San Antonio's streets...hungry, tired, and scared. She clings to her most precious possession, a phone accidentally swiped from a local firefighter, who, instead of canceling the number, starts texting her. Soon, the man's calls and texts are the highlight of her days, but she declines his frequent offers of help. Blythe refuses to be his burden - until a vicious attack takes the decision out of her hands.

When the woman he's already begun to care for ends up in the ER, Sawyer “Squirrel” McClay is livid - and ashamed. He should have insisted she accept his help long ago. Now, he's not taking no for an answer. While his friends rally round Blythe, Squirrel's bond with her grows stronger by the day, until he realizes he'll do anything to keep her safe, healthy, and happy...even as his own lifelong insecurities work against him.

But despite leaving the streets behind, Blythe and Sawyer discover old dangers still linger, threatening to end the couple's new bliss before it's barely begun.

Another Amazing Addition to a Wonderful Series

Can’t go wrong with Susan Stoker! Wickedly talented and always weaves an interesting story and a believable romance. Yep I am a fan "girl" (can a 50 year old be a fan girl??). She is an auto pre-order every time. I loved the realness of this one- how insecure Sawyer or Blythe could be. How much they both SO deserved their HEA. It had action but was in no way exploitative. Just a great listen that was over WAY too fast. Next one please!

Go Sawyer!!

4.5*s

There are people we meet in life that make you want to be a better person. There are those who when we meet them we just know they are one of “our people”. No matter the reason we bring hem in and let them give us hope, faith and a feeling of belonging.

That is what I see unfolded here for Sawyer and Blythe. They’re both battling their own insecurities and lives yet, they’re just what the other person needs to feel complete.

I love Squirrel (Sawyer) and have from the moment we met him. He’s the needy firefighter who has a witty sense of humor. He’s just the man Blythe needs in her life. He’s there to pick her up, brush her off and put her broken pieces together again.

This story doesn’t have as much “action” as some of the others but it’s not meant to. These two people have so much to over come and work through and I loved watching it play out before my eyes.

Another great romance!

I enjoyed this audiobook very much. The heroine is homeless and meets the firefighter hero when an abandoned building she’s been living in catches fire. He gives her his sweatshirt, inadvertently leaving his phone in its pocket. They begin texting and he falls for her, but can’t find her without violating her trust. When something terrible happens the police call him and he decides she’s not going back on the street. They begin a relationship, but old ghosts from the past have a way of popping up. Narration was well done.

Excellent

What a great story. I appreciate the story sharing the life that the homeless women live. Many of our homeless are women and children and most of are there not of their choosing. The narrator did a great job. And yes, I did cry. Plus it was a wonderful love story.

Home Run

Susan Stoker hits another one out of the park. Susan writes amazing stories with characters that wouldn’t normally be a first choice to be made into heroes or heroine. She takes real life situations that are usually swept under the rug and makes us look at them in a human light. Blythe is homeless. Sawyer has body insecurities. These are real people who find love and the journey is true Susan Stoker. Loved it.

Absolutely loved it!!!

This is such an amazingly uplifting story! I had a feeling this was going to be a favorite of mine having met Blythe in an earlier book. Susan is such a fantastic storyteller and Blythe and Sawyer (Squirrel) are wonderful characters. There was no way to not fall in love with Sawyer. It’s very rare to find a hero who has self esteem issues and this made him all the more lovable and real. Blythe has been through hell. A tragic event in her life rendered her homeless and she had been on the streets for a year. Thankfully the first time he met Blythe at a fire he had been called to, he gave her his sweatshirt but hadn’t realized his phone was in it. This would turn out to be the lifeline she needed and the way he would eventually see her again. He had not been able to forget her.
All the wonderful men and women we have come to know in this series make appearances in this awesome comeback story. You will love Blythe and love her with Sawyer and how she fits in with everyone else.
Erin is such a great narrator and I love how she brings the characters to life! I love listening to books she narrates especially if they are written by Susan Stoker!!!
