Publisher's Summary

As an event planner, Gillian Romano’s an expert at rolling with the punches and solving unexpected problems. But her flight getting hijacked while returning from a job is definitely out of her skill set. Passengers are being murdered, and when she’s chosen by the terrorists to be their mouthpiece, even more innocent lives rest on Gillian’s shoulders. Only the calm, reassuring voice on the other end of the line keeps her sane, forging a bond with a stranger she’s never seen but trusts with her life.

Walker "Trigger" Nelson and his Delta Force team have spent years training for close-quarter hostage rescue. When they get called to South America to attempt to save an airplane full of hostages, he doesn’t expect to meet a woman who rocks his world in the middle of the op. Gillian’s cool head and bravery in the face of certain terror - and possible death - blows him away. Any outcome that doesn’t include Gillian leaving that plane alive and well is not an option.

After their safe return to Texas, both Trigger and Gillian are excited to find out if their instant chemistry can survive the real world. Neither realizing that someone isn’t happy with the outcome of the hijacking, and is watching, waiting, for a second chance to strike.

Shielding Gillian is the first book in the Delta Team Two series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

Great story & Narration

I loved this book by Susan Stoker and Virginia Rose did a great job narrating and brought the story to life. I really enjoyed her performance and how she portrayed all the characters. I devoured this book all in one sitting and I’m really looking forward to listening to more audiobooks by this narrator.

Awesome start to a new series

Let me start off by saying I enjoyed this book from start to finish. The narrator did an amazing job giving all the characters unique voices so I never got confused about who was talking. The story had me at the edge of my seat and the mystery woven through was so good I didn’t see the ending coming.I loved Gillian and Walker they are my new favorite couple.

Amazing story!

What a great story of the courage and strength it takes to be a survivor of a traumatic experience. Gillian does not see the evil in the world so when it shoves itself into her life, she is terrified but not frozen. Her brain kicks in and catalogs as much information as she can to help their rescuers. Trigger and his team is grateful for her ability to give them as much information as she can. Another Great Book!

For a 12 year old

The terrorist plane part is laughable if I wasn’t so disappointed. The narrator was fine. The script is not her fault. Literally , for a 12 year old.

Great characters!

Enjoyed the storyline that brought the leads together. Susan does a great job building believable characters and showing how the two main characters fall in love. Not the genre I usually read, but I was very impressed with her story and genuinely was turning “pages” (whatever the audio version of that cliche is?)

Another great series from Susan Stoker!

I can't wait for the next book in this series (or any of Susan's series!) I've been on a Susan Stoker audiobook binge since May 2nd and I've loved every second of the past 10 weeks! Susan's Mountain Mercenaries series hooked me and I couldn't stop until I had went thru every one of her Seal, Delta, Texas Heroes and Ace Security series! I love how they're all interconnected and you get peeks of some of your favorites from other series. Susan Stoker has built a helluva world with all of her hot alpha heros and I've loved all the heroine's in each of her books too. I've had a total blast escaping into Susan's books the last 2 months and 6 days and I'm honestly sad that I can't just one-click the next audiobook and find out what Phantom, Lefty, Brain and Oz are up to. I'm REALLY excited for her Silverstone series and I'm hoping I get to learn how Bull and his team tortured the hell out of del Rio before they killed him down in Lima, Peru.
If you haven't read (or listened 😉) to any of Susan Stoker's books yet, don't wait another day before you dive into her world!!

Corny, over done

Everything in this book was extremely corny from the phrases repeated over and over to the stupid stuff the main characters said to each other. It was very cliche. I love Stoker’s other books and series so I’m hoping this was just a one off and the rest of this new series is better.

Hot Delta Force dude!!

Imagine being on a plane, returning from paradise to home, and it being hijacked! This is where Gillian finds herself. Luckily for her, and most of the passengers, Trigger and his Delta Force team has come to the rescue. Now Gillian and Trigger have to navigate a new relationship while keeping her safe from a drug cartel...the main ‘bad guy’ is quite a surprise. Some intense moments at the beginning...and a few close to the end. Enjoyed the love story between this duo. Looking forward to the next book. As always, the narrator does a perfect job with all of the characters.
I accepted a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Independent Gillian 💪🏼

Gillian is one of the girls, but when it comes to tough situations she steps up to the plate. After her plane being hijacked and being used as the intermediary between the police and the hijackers, and then getting rescued by an elite group with a handsome man who catches her eye, she is undeniably strong and determined. I liked that she and Waker take it slow, and that she is not the damsel in distress. Walker is such a gentleman and a protector, that she still needs because she is still in danger. Suspense and sweet romance combined in this audiobook. Ms Rose has a great voice and brings all characters to life with her narration.

Why has it taken me so long to find books by Susan

Did the Audiobook meet your expectations?
WOW! This book was fantastic.

How did the story make you feel?
I love suspenseful books and this one had me on the edge of my seat!

Did the narrator make it easy to follow the story? Did you find the narrator’s voice fitting for the main protagonists(s)?
Virginia Rose is an amazing narrator and fit the characters voices very well!

Do you recommend this audiobook and will you pick up more?
YES! I have had a few of Susan Stokers books sitting in my Wish List for a long time now. This is the first book that I have read by her and I was automatically hooked that I have started on the other series (SEAL of Protection)! Susan had a knack for not only having sexy strong and protective heroes but strong female heroines.

I was gifted this audiobook in exchange for an honest review by Susan and I am so thrilled that I had the chance to listen.

Love this

I really enjoyed this book. It felt kind of like a slow burn, but not. You get to enjoy some actual happy time with the couple before more drama hits and I loved that. I fell like a lot of stories are spent getting them together and then when they finally get there the book is over. This book gets going quickly and you get right to the thick of it. I love the characters and Walker is the perfect boyfriend almost too perfect. Virginia Rose does a great job with both male and female roles. I recommend this book for sure.

A good 50/50 mix of romance and suspense

First, Virginia Rose did an amazing job. Reading and both female and male voices were great. Loved that she's not bubbly when she reads. If she could change the male voices up a bit more for all the different team members she would be fantastic. She is relatively new to me and would love to listen to more from her.

Great romantic suspense. Action started in the first chapter and stayed for most of the book - 5 stars. I also enjoyed the romance between Walker and Gillian - 4.5 stars. I had to take a half off with the slow burn, their reasoning behind waiting just seemed unrealistic to wait so long while also sleep sleeping together all the time.

Loved the teaser for the next book - can't wait!

It starts with a firework

It starts with a firework and doesn’t slow until the end. We’re barely 5 minutes in when the hostages taking happens, and the whole first part is action packed. Then comes a second part where the main couple reunites and finally more action and suspense. But don’t worry, the romance is still at the center of the story.

Gillian is independant, level headed, and strong. It was a very interesting character, and I liked that she never needs Walker to get her out of trouble–except that one time when she needs comfort, and that makes the moment even more powerful. On the other end, we have an extremely protective alpha male who doesn’t want a relationship. Or so he says, because from their first meeting, he keeps showing the exact opposite–spending the night at her appartment, not wanting to jump into a physical relationship…

The action part is thrilling, and the romance part is both adorable and hot. A good combination, especially compelling with the excellent narration.

hmmmmm

I normally sink into Susan stoker.....but this one is opposite to most of her others, her plots are 80% military action, angst and suspense and 20% is romance.
but this is 20% action etc and 80% romance.!!
it was very slow and I struggled with the simplicity of an alpha dating a mixture of a woman...smart but naive????? I'm a sassy kinda heroine listener.
I loved her 1st delta team series, mountain mercenaries series along with her Texas ranger series, she brings out what the average person presumes to be a problem in an individual and turns it into a strength that pulls the pace and plot together nicely.
this book however, lacks the punch I normally get from Ms Stoker in the middle and might I say, the end....the opening was awesome.
if you don't mind slowing down your story pace and enjoy a rolling into romance slowly but surely then away you go.
I do think that the alpha males respect thing was a bit overstretched but Ms Stoker made this steam scene one if the best I've read....😉😉
