Publisher's summary

After serving as her sister's maid of honor, Kellie Ramsey is ready for a new chapter in her own life. The only thing louder than the wedding bells in her head is the ticking of her biological clock. The problem - the guy she's been dating is not "the one". She's never been a dog person like her sister, Alex, who runs a rescue, but she agrees to lend a hand to give Alex a much needed break. Otis, an abandoned pit bull, and Lily, a three-legged kitten, find their way into her heart and her home. Two men also come into her life. The question now is - which one of them is "the one"?

Fun Southern Romance

Any additional comments?

Rescued... Too was a fun listen that romance lovers, as well as animal lovers, will enjoy. Kellie realizes that her boyfriend is not "the one" but longs for the kind of marriage that her sister has. Two men suddenly come into her life - Howard, a veterinarian and Ford, a businessman. Who will she choose? You'll have to listen to find out! Did I mention that there were talking animals? The narration was well done and I would recommend this.

I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator. This review is my honest opinion.

Rescued Review....

Wasn't really sure about the storyline as I listened. Talking cats and dogs? But I stuck with it to see how it ended. Verdict: Not much depth. Narrator did a decent job on the Southern female character; male characters were a bit stiff.

Perfect for the animal lover in me

Whenever I want a feel good read, I always check Linda Rettstatt. This book, for the dog(animal) love in me was perfect! I love the animal interaction, the subtle conversations they have between each other, the ones you always wonder if they are having and what they are thinking! Kellie is not an animal person, until she helps out at the rescue center and falls for Otis, the pitbull...and his sidekick Lilly the three legged cat. Kellie is at a point in her life where she can't decide what she wants. Is she ready to for marriage? Will she find what her sister Alex has? Is Howard the vet or Ford the businessman the one? I was routing for one of them throughout the book, and was very happy with the outcome! Both were good contenders, but I was a little concerned at one point that she was going to pick the one I didn't want. Kellie also had some career choices to make. Linda Rettstatt always is able to take real life situations and create an enveloping story around them, sucking you in and keeping you interested.

Caroline McLaughlin narrates this book beautifully. Her performance is spot on(love the animals) and give the perfect amount of emotion and feels throughout the story.

Sweet and Funny

I was pleasantly surprised by this sweet, charming and humorous book. I loved the quips and the story. The love interests had substance. The author did a great job with the character development and Southern charm. As a pet lover, I found the pets mentioned in this book as endearing. I was voluntarily provided with this review copy audiobook at no charge. The preview I read for this book was not actually for this book. I'm glad that I received the book that I did.

My Thoughts on Rescued... Too

This story took me a moment to get into. Being a first-time reader/listener for this author I wasn't previously aware of her writing style. So it took me a moment to get a handle on the point of view and the omnipresence of the story flow. But once I got over that initial hurdle the story seem to flow well and ended up being pretty interesting.

I definitely was kept guessing on who the leading lady would end up with. I had my preference and while I won't say who I wanted or if that's who she ended up with, I could certainly appreciate the way the story unfolded.

I really liked the animal shelter and the rescuing of the animals aspect of the story but on the flipside I personally was not a fan of the talking animal aspect. I don't really see what that added to the story but I also kind of feel like to each their own.

The narrator for this story did a pretty good job . I am not overly familiar with southern accents but I think she managed to pull it off well. I like the fact that she couldn't pull off a male voice pretty well, and I wouldn't be opposed to listening to more stories by her.

A perfect listen! I absolutely loved this book!

What did you love best about Rescued...Too?

Caroline McLaughlin’s voice is my personal elixir. Smooth, with a bite. Eternally pure, with some rasp. Her voice is absolutely tantalizing. When I try to be sexy (*snort*) I channel my inner Caroline.

Rescued Too showcases the best attributes of Caroline’s voice. Her timbre is always perfect, but it’s the beautiful modulations in her speech that makes her one of my favorite narrators. While listening (and envying), her phrasing is almost poetic; like she’s a possessed master of prodsy and metre. #SheCantBeHuman Croon me to sleep with that voice, WOMAN!

Oh but don’t be fooled, my friends. Caroline may have the voice of an immortal, but GAWD she will inflict pain on your heart! I’m warning you now that Caroline McLaughlin will make your heart cry with every moment of conflict. If it makes you feel better, she has this effect on everyone. So don’t feel like you’re alone in this.

Take a good book, project it through Caroline’s voodoo magic, and it becomes an astonishing book.

Male interpretations, accents, her pain was my pain: check, check, and check.

Listen, and swoon, my friends.

Any additional comments?

What do you do when life presents you with three men?

Door Number 1: Rob. The man-child.
Door Number 2: Ford. The lawyer of sin.
Door Number 3: Howard. The Dr. of hotness.

I’d like door number 2 and 3, please. 😏

Rescued Too engrossed my heart in perfect conflict. We are first introduced to Kellie Ramsey who envies her sister’s new marriage and she has no idea how she’s going to find that same happiness. Instead, she hates anything cute and fuzzy, and doubts that she’ll ever find a decent man with her poor judgement.

Speaking of poor judgement, Kellie is in an award situation. She’s also in an awkward relationship with an immature man. Sure, the initial rush of smutty feelings was fun, but now that her sister, Alexandra, is married and Kellie has a front row seat to pure emotional bliss, she is starting to take her future more seriously. So, the night Door Number 1 (her current boyfriend) decides to propose to her, she kicks him to the curb.

Ouch... we're only in the first chapter!

Entering: Ford. Who is this devilishly handsome man with a sketchy agenda? Here comes Ford barging into their lives trying to claim stake of Kellie’s brother-in-law’s fortunes. GO HANG YOURSELF, FORD! This lawyer of sin is out for blood trying to stir problems within the family business.

Did I forget to mention Ford is related to Kellie’s brother-in-law? Oh yes. Technically, the family business is Ford’s business after all. Ford is absolute trouble, and off limits.

"He’s bad news. Just showed up a while ago claiming he has rights to half of Primrose and saying he’s here on some mysterious business. I don’t trust him."

Why can’t Kellie just meet an ordinary (and boring) man?

Your prayers have been answered! We soon meet Dr. Howard Dennis who is a veterinarian. *swoon* Too bad Kellie hates animals… and too bad the doc used to fantasize about her sister, Alexandra. Talk about awkward. But Howard is safe. Howard is sweet.

And Dr. Howard sure does know how to kiss!

"She expected his kiss to be sweet. She did not expect her reaction to his kiss. Warmth spread through her and an electric current zinged along her nerve endings. She moved closer, leaning into the kiss."

Kellie also doesn’t expect the thrill she gets when she argues with Ford…

"You should at least give it a chance… you’re smart, and you could do so much better for yourself than this town will allow."

"Who died and made you the expert on my life?"

Two different chemistries with two different men; good thing Kellie isn't a scientist because she would mix all sorts of toxic substances! (Back AWAY from the Bunsen burner... ) How is Kellie supposed to build a relationship with Dr. Boring, when there is Mr. Dangerous on her mind? And who is Ford, really? Why is he suddenly in town?!

Rescued Too is gripping, and riveting. Linda Rettstatt sure does know how to write a bitter sweet conflict! As Kellie’s distain for animals lessens, she concurrently discovers the path (and inevitably the man) who sets her heart on fire. #BunsenBurnMyHeart! This book is a vivid portrayal of love and transformation. The animals are the best undercurrent here; shaping the lives of their owners and almost guiding them to happiness. And yes, Kellie does find happiness… eventually. (Salvage my heart, Linda!)

Rescued Too is a rollercoaster of fate, and my heart holds 1000 tickets waiting in line. Forget sleep because Rescued Too will consume you. Let’s not even tie in Caroline McLaughlin’s audiobook narration otherwise I’ll die and go to a perfect audiobook heaven.

Who to choose… Sweet? Or Dangerous?

Is there maybe a Door Number 4 with no heartache involved? I’ll take that one, instead.
