Publisher's Summary

I was young enough not to understand that my life was different. Colin became the one person that I could count on to protect me. He suffered for the both of us by carrying the burden of our secret. We were the lucky few that got a chance to start over. A fake family, a new home, and a pretty little life built on lies. But while our lives continued to intertwine, we were put on very different paths. Now it's only a matter of time before they collide and the beast behind the beauty is exposed.

let me confused a lot of the time...

The story is intriguing and I found I wanted to like it, but found it hard to keep up as it went back and forth between present & past. I also feel as if it didn't really clear things up. It gives you bits and pieces of their past, but not enough to fill in all the gaps.
It jumps around so much I found my self confused.
other then that, I think it could of been an amazing story.

Dark Contemporary Romance...

The story is intriguing but I found it hard to keep up as it went back and forth between present & past. Perhaps it would have been easier to follow in a book format versus audiobook.

There are some pretty abusive descriptions. It can be quite disturbing specially because all my favorite dark romances do not have the "hero" continue to sleep around and act abusive towards the "heroine" and other females throughout the book.

The narration was ok. It was more like a reading than heartfelt & emotional. The narrator did not immerse herself in the characters. It sounded a bit monotone to me.

The story had potential but the hopping around made it confusing. I did not understand her relationship with Jake. He seemed important at first but not so much towards the end. He was a peculiar character anyways.

They were part of a cult and were able to scape and find a wealthy lawyer to help them. They pretended to be a family to blend in. Annie and Colin would tell everyone they are brother & sister. The leader of the cult Taylor is pretty sick. There are some unexpected twists towards the end.

The story did not flow as well as I had expected it. And the conclusion did not really leave a happy feeling in the pit of my stomach. It was intended to be a HEA... You will need to read it to understand.

Secrets are always revealed

The life that Colin and Anna lives is in fear of a madman. They are careful of the lies they tell because they are hiding. This story draws you in and spits you out.

Could be amazing

The story goes back and forth so many times , it's a bit hard to keep on track, the story should be read, not listened to. So I'll give it another try.

pretty little things

I was gifted this audio ARC for a honest and unbiased review from the author/narrator.
Teresa Mummert wrote a very confusing book. The story went back in the past then to the present, while doing this it left me confused. I think it somehow wasn't a book for audio. Just saying.
Sarah Puckett narrated this book but I feel that there wasn't enough emotions for the book.
I'm sorry to say this is one book I didn't care for but will try another by author and narrator at another time.

Decent book

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

The narration was ok. She has a good pace but I didn't care for how monotone it sounded to me. I like to hear some emotion in a narrators voice.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, its not one I could listen to in one setting. I was confused alot listening to this book and would have to stop to take things in.

Any additional comments?

I received this audio book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Dark Romance

Any additional comments?

Pretty Little Things was an interesting and enjoyable listen with a unique storyline. I was immediately drawn in to the story, although I wasn't really sure where it was going at first. As it progressed things became much clearer, although the back and forth between past and present was confusing at times. This was not a "rainbows and unicorns" kind of romance and there were some pretty dark aspects to the story, with an unexpected twist at the end. The narrator did a good job with the characters.

Overall I really liked Pretty Little Things but it did require a little concentration to keep everything straight. I would recommend this.

I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator. This review is my honest opinion.

Was hoping for more!

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I would have to say no, the book and narrating just fell a little short in opinion.

Would you be willing to try another book from Teresa Mummert? Why or why not?

Maybe I would try another book, this book was good, just not great.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Sarah Puckett?

I would also try Sarah again, but It needed work.

Do you think Pretty Little Things needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

The story was HEA so I don't see a reason for a 2nd book.

Any additional comments?

Overall the book was OK the plot was good, just needed more.

I was given this audiobook for free from audiobook boom for my unbiased review.

Down a rabbit hole a trickle at a time.

What did you love best about Pretty Little Things?

This story was unique in its plot, and had a great buildup. It reveals things in small increments from the past, and it goes from not making much sense to slowly making you understand. It's a different way of storytelling, and while I was unsure at first, I ended up loving the way it flowed.

What did you like best about this story?

The two main characters Colin and Annie have a strange relationship in the beginning, but as the story unfolds you understand their relationship way more.

What three words best describe Sarah Puckett’s performance?

Okay, monotone, read. While the narration wasn't horrible, it wasn't really great either. It was just eh, okay. I felt like it was being read to me more than being performed, and this book would have been better for me exsperiance wise had it been more performed. I think I would have been more okay with narration, had there been a change of voice between the alternate POV's, that could be deferential in identifying who was speaking.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. It wasn't very long and was intriguing enough to keep you on the hook.

Any additional comments?

Overall I enjoyed the plot, the story, and the characters. Think I would have enjoyed it better had I read this rather than listening to it, because I feel that the narration didn't do the storyline justice in this instance, though it wasn't horrible. I would recommend listening to a sample before hand to make sure that the narration won't put you off, like it did me. I was given this audiobook for free from audiobook boom for my unbiased review.

Intriguing Listen

Pretty Little Things was a quick listen with an original story line.

I like that I didn’t know exactly what was going on. As a listener, I enjoy having some twists and turns and a little bit of unpredictability. I was hoping it would be a little darker. And a little more taboo. But thats just me ;) I enjoyed the story, I just wish it were a little longer.

.A rarity of a tale

From the very first pages, the world we're thrust into is unraveled and defines what type of a universe we'll emerge ourselves in:Pretty Little Things is ,Without being spoilery, I will say this: this book is heavy. This book knifes your heart and twists it until you bleed all your pre-conceived ideas about certain topics straight out the window.
the reader has to make sense of what's going on all the way through the book ,unraveling what happend and is happening page by page and I loved that about it.You have read the synopsis so you don't need me for that. I will say the characters seem more and more real as we realize they are not perfect .Again that only made me like it more. Sarah Puckett was outstanding,as you would expect from her superb quality and a narrator who you know won't let you down and will do the author proud. I Loved This!

I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher, and/or narrator

I was enthralled within this story from the moment I read the synopsis. It gripped me from the beginning and throughout. I couldn't stop listening and was looking forward to getting into the car so I could listen to it again.

The characters where damaged and likeable and couldn't help but want the best for them. The backstory was so intriguing that I would like to know more than the slight flashbacks that we were given within the story.

I will most assuredly be listening to this again!
