Book one in the Turning Point series.

Matthew Elliot is one of LA’s best detectives. He’s been labeled the golden boy of the Fab Four: a team of four detectives who’ve closed down drug-rings all over the city. He’s smart, tough and exceptionally good at his job. He’s also a closeted gay man.

Enter Kira Takeo Franco, the new boxing coach at the gym. Matthew can’t deny his immediate attraction to the man his fellow cops know as Frankie. But in allowing himself to fall in love with a man known to his colleagues, Matthew risks outing them both.

Matt and Kira work to keep their relationship and private lives hidden from Matt’s very public life, fearing it would be detrimental to their careers. But it’s not the other cops who Matthew should be worried about finding out his deepest, darkest secret.... It’s the bad guys.

Third edition - has new cover and has been re-edited, though no new content has been added.

-dreamy sigh- Still my first love of MM romance stories. Years ago when I first came across this story, it was the cover picture that captured my interest, then the story created this type of adoring magic in my heart for these 2 alpha men (Matt and Kira) with their alpha careers and I was done for. I’ve been reading MM romances ever since.

Everything about this story is perfect! You have romance, action, sexy alpha males, an interesting plot with a bit of mystery, and a fantastic support cast.

I’ve read this story so many times and though it wasn’t MacLeod Andrews, Michael Ferraiuolo, or Greg Tremblay (My dream team of narrators) that brought this story to life for me, having the chance to listen to it truly had me in a ‘dream-filled romantic shield of cloud 9 happiness.’

I still love this story and Kira and Matt so much! ❤️ I’m so grateful the original book cover is back with a small improvement. Good job who ever made that decision 👍

Suspense and Love

Turning Point is a bit different from the feel of N R Walker's other series. it is a great listen that you are taken in and heartbroken that there are only 3 in the series. Her other books are awesome and sexy and light and funny. This gets a bit darker but still has her signature gift. The writing and ability to pick the right narrator to the right books brings it all togethet. N R Walkers talent has no bounds. She can write a light love story, hot steamy love scenes, vampires, AI boyfriends and police dramas. One amazing author, many amazing books

The characters in this book were so well written that they just pulled you into their world, and Sean Crisden breathed life into them. OMG, they made me cry and ache for their pain. This is a good one. Don't miss it.

WOW, just WOW

I’m on a bit of an N.R. Walker kick these days. This book is one of her (relatively) older books, and has just been released on audio. Since I love N.R., am a Sean Crisden fan, and an audio addict, picking this up was a no-brainer.

Unlike many of her other books, this one is set in Los Angeles instead of Australia. I missed the Aussie expressions, but since I’m Canadian and we are frequently mistaken for Americans, adapting to this different setting was easy.

Matt Elliot is an L.A. police detective who, at 28, already has 10 years with the force. He is one of a group of four detectives who investigate illegal drugs and those involved – dealers, kingpins, gangs, and others. The book begins as the four are hanging at the gym after a major bust. All of the men enjoy working out, but it’s Matt who enjoys sparring in the boxing ring with the gym’s best trainers. Kira Takeo Franco (Frankie) is the best Matt is facing that day and the sparks are instantaneous and intense. Matt’s partners don’t notice, but Frankie does. Matt may not be out – as a police officer it can be dicey –but he and Frankie feel the sexual attraction.

Frankie actually prefers to go by ‘Kira’, the name bestowed upon him by his Japanese mother. She is supportive and accepting of his homosexuality, as is his deaf Spanish father. He is their only son and they adore him. Matt lost his mother at the age of seventeen and has been on his own ever since. He has trouble adapting to both the Francos and their attractive son.

Soon, though, they fall into a comfortable routine. Kira works at the gym, while Matt puts in insane hours at the office. The team brought down a major drug kingpin, but his enterprise has continued without a hiccup. I will say there are supposed to be two surprises and I had both figured out long before they were revealed, but it wasn’t a huge issue.

In their home life, Kira and Matt are completely compatible – in and out of bed. Kira respects Matt’s need to stay in the closet, but it does hurt him.

I liked the development of the relationship. Yes, there was super-hot sex, but there is also an emotional connection, something I expect from N.R.’s books.

The thriller part of was well-done and believable, all the more so because of the strong bond between the two men. After the crisis is over, both men have to settle back into their lives, dealing with the huge changes. Of course they do adjust, but there are a few bumps along the way—same as there are in life.

Sean Crisden is one of my favourite narrators and a perfect pick for a novel set in the U.S. He also did a good job with the accents, including Eastern European and Japanese.

I recommend the book. As Kira says to Matt, “I need you”. Well, this book came at the perfect time for me.
