Publisher's Summary

Tamzea, a Mazatimz healer, found a home as part of the crew on the starship The Pittsburgh. But when a part of her past crashes into her present, she's forced to face the uncertainty of her future. Dragged back to a place Tamzea had hoped to leave in her worst nightmares, she discovers Eron, a man she thought dead. Determined to save each other, Tamzea and Eron must find a way to work together, despite their torrid past. With partial truths, and political games, will Tamzea be able to fix Eron, or is he too broken for even her to heal?

"Book 2 takes the story to a great place"
Would you listen to Parallax again? Why?

Yes, once all the books are out, I want to listen to them in order.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Parallax?

Without giving away a spoiler, there is a great moment where the Eron character overcomes a huge issue visited on him by the Denards.

Which character – as performed by Ashley Holt – was your favorite?

The creepy alien who tortures people really stood out. The voice was appropriately creepy. Really creepy. Did I mention really creepy? The lead character was very soothing. Since she was a healer, it was very well done.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I didn't really have an extreme reaction to the book, but I did enjoy it quite a bit! A good followup to the first one, which is still my favorite of the series.

    Any additional comments?

Looking forward to books 3 and 4.

    "Book 2"

I totally enjoyed this story. I listened to book one and I remember what this series is about , The story is both complex with lots going on and also simple because it mostly ties around a few main ideas.

"I got the feels, but I still want more! "

I got the feels, but I still want more!

Parallax is #02 of 04 in the Starblind Series by D.T. Dyllin. All 4 are currently published with 2 of them being on Audible. #3 is in audio production now, with #4 to soon follow. The author has confirmed that #4 is the final book in the series.

Ashley Holt narrates the series thus far.

    HEA with no cliffhanger!

This series is only 4 books long and is heavily connected by characters and overall story arc so I recommend reading the books in order. It is not only more enjoyable that way, but you will miss out on a lot of details if you read them out of order.

    ♥ Story ♥

Parallax picks up not long after the end of Starblind. The Pittsburgh is now up 3 passengers. We get a bigger glimpse of the classification system. There are also some new species introduced along the way.

This is Tamzea's story, and it gave me some deep feels! The story flashes back and forth in time as memories are relived. I will warn you now, they aren't happy or pretty!

    Tamzea

Tamzea is a Mazatimz. A species human in appearance, except for their lavender eyes and hair. Most of them end up as some kind of doctor due to their healing abilities. Mazatimz children are often locked away and sheltered to protect them from the dangers of the world. This turns out to be their downfall.

The back story to Tamzea's life comes flooding back with a vengeance after a chance encounter with an out of control space pod. We find out about her escape and guilt over the loved one she thought dead, that she left behind.

    Eron

Eron is the other half of Tamzy's pair-bond. He lied and sacrificed to protect another. Life, however, is never that black and white. Just as shady deals are rarely honored. His strife really pulls the heart strings, so try to cut the guy some slack. There is always more to the story, because the things you see and the thoughts you have, may not be your own. (that is supposed to be cryptic)

The Starblind series is a page turner and I can't wait to listen to the next in the series, Parallax (Tamzea's story). I can't really comment more without spoiling something. And trust me, I have a bunch of comments to make, but you will have to go over to the Read Along With Me for it, to be posted soon.

    ♥ Author ♥

This is my 2nd read/listen by D.T. Dyllin, and I can't wait to listen to more, but I'm going to have to do it! :-( The world building just gets better and the characters pull tears from my heart.

    ♥ Narrator(s) ♥

This is my 2nd listen by Ashley Holt and she did a good job with story. Voice separation when there are too many characters in the same scene could use some polish to insure you can tell them apart.

    "Had everything I live"

First, I want to say I wish I could go back and edit my review of the first book. Hearing the second really cleared up some plot holes I complained about. If the two books came together as a two parter I wouldn't have been so lost. If the author is reading this, please know that I LOVED this book and will buy the next in the series for sure.

I loved how both protagonists shifted personalities for the better through the story. Hearing true love come full circle is something I enjoy greatly. This book had a set baddue that I could understand and hate, trials that were relatable, and a great arc and conclusion... but with enough of s cliffhanger to leave me wanting more. a+.

The narrator's tempo was miles better than the first book, in my opinion. Maybe it was because the main character had less sass to convey. The voices still needed more difference for individuality, though.

    "Loving this series!"
What made the experience of listening to Parallax the most enjoyable?

Great narrator, great characters, and lots of humor.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! The story keept me hooked and it was hard to stop listening.

    Any additional comments?

Loving this series. Characters are reoccurring and it continues to build from the previous book. I would definitely recommend reading/listening to these in order or it may not make as much sense. I received a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

    "A qwirky cast of characters"

Firstly, this is a series that needs to be listened to/read in order, so if you haven't read book one go get that one first.

I really enjoyed this story. It's been a while since I listened to book one so I didn't remember what this series is about but it only took about 2 minutes for me to remember, this is a distinctive world (and an interesting one). The story is both complex with lots going on and also simple because it mostly ties around a few main ideas.

If you liked book one I'm confident that you'll also enjoy this book. It picks up a bit after the first book but follows Tamzea the ships healer as the main character, and she turns out to have quite a history behind her.

I didn't really like the narration, I found the phrasing odd and a bit off putting, but the character voices are well done. There were some small production glitches where the audio repeated itself or there was a shift in the sound quality, but these were small.

This book was supplied free by the author/narrator/publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

    "Awesome story, meh narrator"

The story was the only reason I rated the book this high. The narrator reads like she's reading the news, it's quite distracting and difficult to enjoy. If you can focus on the words and not how their read, then you'd enjoy this book.
