Publisher's Summary

Curtis "Launchpad" Larkin's career as an astronaut has had its share of ups and downs.

Alternately lauded as the single-handed savior of NASA and condemned as a reckless, hot-headed bully, Curt has been through the wringer of public opinion and come out on top. When he embarks on his final mission with NASA, Curt figures there's no curveball that life has left to throw him.

But when the role of spacecraft communicator is passed to a young engineer back in Houston who he's never met, Curt's mission takes on a new trajectory.

Patrick Harte's life is turned upside down when he's called to fill in at mission control, working directly under his hero, Curtis Larkin.

Falling for Curt is just a small step for Patrick - but it's one giant leap to think that the astronaut could ever return his feelings.

After Curt connects with Patrick from worlds away, he can't imagine life on earth without the other man...Despite the fact that he's never laid eyes on Patrick. And their problems won't stop once he's cleared for landing.

The bad-boy astronaut is no stranger to controversy - but will the genuine and soft-spoken man of his dreams be able to keep up with the trouble Curt seems to stir everywhere he goes?

Amazing book and an even better narration!

We love Kay Simone, we love this book and now we love this Audiobook, so so so so so so SOOOOO good! Seriously!

This is a story about Patrick Harte who works as a NASA engineer, and after he is called up to fill in as Chief Communications Officer on the current mission he finds himself living his dream and spending hours of time speaking to Commander Curtis Larkin, his childhood hero. Curt is on his last space mission, and unsure what is next for his life back on earth, but finding himself enamored by Patrick, finding himself pouring out his heart, his wishes and his dreams is not what he expected.

One Giant Leap is the ultimate slow-burn romance, the tingle of anticipation between these 2 men starts from the first time they ‘meet’. Even though they come from different backgrounds, ages, and experiences they love space, and connect early in the story over their amazement of all that is out there. It is lovely, and sweet. Kay Simone has created a unique story here, and even thought Curt and Patrick don’t physically meet till 80% through the book they have a connection that is powerful; they were made for each other. One Giant Leap is a long book and the audiobook is 10+ hours as well. But it never really feels long, Kay Simone builds anticipation in Curt and Patrick’s relationship. And adding the NASA aspect is truly fascinating, romantic in itself and exciting.

Now, granted we love this book – or anything Kay Simone writes, but adding Greg Tremblay’s narration is a combination that blazing. One Giant Leap features 12+ characters, both men and women with different nationalities, and Greg creates distinct personalities for them all. Never once did we feel confusion on which astronaut was speaking, or if we are listing to Patrick or Curtis, there is a seamlessness that Greg creates that truly feels like this is narrated by multiple people.

We are so excited that Kay Simone’s One Giant Leap is finally an audiobook – it is amazing! Greg Tremblay adds so much to the sizzling relationship between Curt and Patrick, bringing this amazing book to an amazing love-story. One Giant Leap is an Audiobook not to be missed!

The Book was 6 Stars, The Audible is 10+!

Absolutely loved this book. I read it a while back and when it came out on Audible it was a must buy!

It resonated with me from the beginning, I find it very hard to stop listening now, to Curt and Patrick - as Greg brings them to life. I'm a big nerd when it comes to books I love, I find the Audible a great complement to the Kindle or printed version. Patrick was that guy who lived his whole life shooting for a dream and instead of becoming bitter he was a savior of a mission which could have gone horribly wrong. Curt recognizes what this guy is, without ever laying eyes on him. This book gets to my heart and touches me deeply. You'll fall in love with both these guys! I keep hoping for a 2nd book on them - I'll comfort myself with her other books! Thanks Kay - for giving us this story and finally, the Audible! Thanks for writing guys that sound like they could be real - and giving them heart.

A top notch story with a near perfect narration

I read One Giant Leap when it came out and loved the story. Patrick and Curt are both so human, both flawed, and we get to watch as they grow and evolve. Simone's attention to detail, and spending time making sense of the science, is part of the beauty of the book.

Greg Tremblay is among my top 2-3 narrators. He handles characterization and voices flawlessly. He almost never mispronounces a word, even scientific terms, and One Giant Leap was a perfect example of this art. Bravo!

Wonderful

Curt and Patrick are perfect together. I love how their communication developed into something meaningful in just a few short days. I'm also pleased that their interactions with Wolfe didn't undermine their relationship.
This is a sweet, low angst novel with some sexy time towards the end of the story. Nothing extremely graphic. Just two souls joining in love. And all this wrapped up in a perfect package by the marvelous Greg Tremblay.

An Almost Chaste Romance

What did you like best about One Giant Leap? What did you like least?

One of the things I liked about the book was the slightly circular nature that evolved within it. The prologue (where Curt and Patrick are living together) wraps neatly with the end of the story. I think this was an interesting way of connecting the story and framing the events.

An issue for me was through the first half of the book how the plot would jump between past events (framed in a television interview) and events happening in 'real time'. While I was able to get used to this, I think this mechanic would have worked better being read than being listened to.

Would you recommend One Giant Leap to your friends? Why or why not?

I would give this a tentative recommendation to my friends who enjoy M/M romances. The characters are mostly well developed, the love story between Curt and Patrick builds well and you get to know both of their minds and characters very well, and there are some moments of humor (such as Patrick describing a hamburger to Curt) and drama.

What about Greg Tremblay’s performance did you like?

One of the things Tremblay did well was give each of the characters a very distinct voice, and you got a sense of their personalities through those voices. That said, some of his female voices were a bit hard to tell from each other, but over all, he did a very solid job with each of the characters.

Do you think One Giant Leap needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I think the story is whole and complete where it is. While there are characters from One Giant Leap who I would like to see more of, I am happy with where the book ended.

Any additional comments?

If you like your romances on the steamier side, this might not be the book for you. The relationship between Curt and Patrick develops slowly, and you get a very good sense of their affection for each other. When they are finally together, there are maybe two scenes that while well written are not very detailed. So if you prefer a more 'steamy' story, you might be disappointed with One Giant Leap. However, I think overall it is a well told love story and is worth listening to.

This was so refreshing!

I have recently become addicted to the m/m genre, preferring authors like TJ Klune and Jay Bell that really have a story to tell. This one feels like that to me. I'm finding it hard to find books in this genre that are not completely and almost uncomfortably about describing sex over and over in graphic detail. I'm not square, but a book doesn't need 10 sex scenes to be sexy. This one was almost PG-13 and I loved every minute of the slow burn. Highly recommended...

Beautiful story brought to life in audio

This book was made to be in audiobook format! Since most of the conversation between the two MCs is done through verbal communication only, this story was perfect in audio! You can really feel the emotion as Curt and Patrick communicate and fall in love.

The narrator did a great job with all of the voices, the accents, and different genders, you could really tell who was talking. This is one of my favorites, the writing is just so excellent, the author can pull off a romance where the characters don't even physically meet until the last 25% of the story, and you just fall in love with Patrick and Curtis, but especially Patrick. Highly recommended!

Good story

I enjoyed the story and it was a little different twist on a romance story. The narrator did a very good job of bringing the characters to life.

I can't even say how much I loved this book

I bought this book on a whim and it blew me away! I have already reread it 3 or 4 times in the 3 months since I bought it. I loved the relationship building and the premise. I did think the bit after landing should have been a bit more fleshed out so it wasn't like BAM! happily ever after. I wish I could find something else like it but it seems to be a bit of a departure for the author. I read a couple of their other books and they were just OK, they lacked the depth of this book.
