Mail Order Brides series:
For those of you that prefer no violence, clean language and no detailed sex...this book is for you. The closest it gets to being slightly naughty is when someone crawls into bed with another person to keep them from freezing. Still, there was no sex involved.
This woman Jenny (Ma) has made it through her 4 boys getting married and a few are getting ready to have babies. I love the Mail Order bride book where Ma writes the mail order bride service for one of her boys. That was a good one too.
It was a cute romance where I was not embarrassed to listen to in front of my kids. Most of the books I prefer require me to use head phones.

This is the last of the Mail Order Brides by Susette Williams. I will miss this fun family. If you haven't read or listened to any of these books, they are short stories that you can read or listen to in about an hour. I really enjoyed all of them.
I was given this audio book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

This was the perfect ending to the series! Jenny(Ma) has been alone for years since the early death of her husband. She has always been busy raising her four boys, running the ranch and just never thought of loving another man. Thadius(Doc) has eyes for Jenny. He approaches her one day when checking on Sarah's pregnancy and Jenny is very put off..until Thadius is thrown from his horse. Will Jenny realize how much she loves Thadius?
Allyson Voller concludes this series as she started it. Her narration is wonderfully warm and compassionate.

This is the final book in the Mail Order Bride series. If you plan to read any of the other books, you may not want to read this review as it may contain spoilers.
Now that her four boys are all married off with wives and the beginnings of families of their own, Ma/Jenny is feeling content. However, when Doc shows up to help deliver her first grandchild he makes his affection and intentions toward her known. They are both older and alone and he thinks they would be a good match.
Follow their journey in this brief novella to find out what happens.
The narration was very good. I appreciated Allyson Voller's ability to give each character their own voice. This is not an easy task when you have 4 adult men, 4 adult women & an older woman and man. But each was unique.
The only thing that didn't make this book perfect for this listener was the way in which the author chose to write (or perhaps it was the narrator chose to perform) these characters as "backwards" with their language. It did not take away from the story, this is only my preference.
Notes: There is nothing to warn about here. If you're picking up your kids from school and they are plugged into their devices you can listen without worry. There's no strong language, violence or otherwise mature themes.. A great little novel without being preachy.
I was given this book in exchange for my review. I really enjoyed it and the rest of the books in the series. Four stars for each category

HUSBAND OF THE BRIDE was so good. Ma was the glue that held this family together and as her four sons have settled down with families and the possibility of more on the way, she's realizing that she has needs of her own.
The family doctor or Doc has realized this too and he seems sweet on her but has to convince her it's time to get on with her life now and Ma's not one to be so easily swayed. There just so happens to be a big surprise in store for Ma when the family attends Church. A couple of surprises in fact.
I love this series. All the stories have been sweet and thoughtful. I listened to them out of order but would recommend listening in order. They'll make more of a connection as Ma has been doing what mother's do in the background and now she's in the forefront. I sure hope that SUSETTE WILLIAMS continues the series.
ALLYSON VOLLER has been the first female narrator for the series thus far and I enjoyed her performance. It was flawless and didn't skip a beat with the change. She had a nice voice and the right inflections to fit perfectly in the story. An overall great job!
