Heart warming
- By Jolene Nelson on 09-15-21
Publisher's Summary
As love restores Rhoda, a sudden tragedy is the test of faith she never saw coming. More settled in her heart than ever before, Rhoda Byler feels a newfound confidence living in the Old Order Amish settlement she helped establish in Orchard Bend, Maine.
Though it has been almost a year since one brother left, Rhoda is happy to be working alongside the other brother as they tend and nurture the settlement' s orchard. Time has helped to heal Rhoda' s wounds, and she finds that even her unusual gift of profound intuition is less of a burden as she continues to seek God' s wisdom and purpose for her life.
But when an Englischer friend' s grandchild is in extreme danger, can Rhoda' s gift make a difference or will it simply be a catalyst to another season of doubt and misunderstanding? As she resolves to stay on course, suddenly a shocking tragedy challenges the young settlement like never before, threatening to uproot Rhoda' s peace and the future of everything she holds dear.

the story ends
I thought this series was a trilogy but, if so, it took the author, Cindy Woodsmall, four books to get the story told. The saga of an apple orchard in Pennsylvania, two brothers loving the same woman and she loving them both, a tornado in PA destroying the orchard and then them all moving to Maine to start a new one, and all of the accompanying trials and tribulations finally come to an end in this story. As usual, Cindy Woodsmall's greatest strength is her insight into human nature and being able to communicate that. Once again, you realize the Amish are people just like the rest of us but these stories could have any setting and be good. If anything, I wondered if Rhoda didn't choose the wrong brother, the other brother being my favoritet character in the series. I enjoyed the series and will look forward to her next books.

Good story but drags
I like Cindy Woodsmall’s stories, but she puts too many mundane details in them and reviews way too much from previous books. Sometimes the story just drags. A lot of times I roll my eyes at the interactions. Too much unimportant chitchat between the characters.
Stina Nelson does a good but not great job. A great narrator would use a Pennsylvania Dutch accent, and Stina’s voice inflections are often not to my liking. It makes the characters seem kind of silly. The characters voices themselves are pretty good, and there are lots of them! Her acting is reasonable.

This was an Amish story as I usually enjoy, This one was not at its best, the story did not hold my interest as it had so many names to try to keep track of. Would have to stop and say to myself, now who is this? Sorry I was not able to give it a better review.

Seasons of Tomorrow by Cindy Woodsmall
Having some Amish recipes at the end of the book has been a real treat.
I have thoroughly loved Cindy Woodsmall’s books, BUT I PREFER NOT TO DEAL WITH SEEING INTO THE FUTURE OR (as she calls it - intuition). Everything else about this series has been good.
