I loved this story. Am eager to start the next one in the series.

Loved the narrator too. She has such an "innocent" voice that suits the Amish well. :o)

Wonderful!

The family was enlightened by the Truth of the Word of God and though it was difficult, they did the right thing and as humbly as possible

Choosing the difficult

It was not the best performance, but the story drew me in as I got to know the characters. I ended up hoping for them and rooting for them.

It was slow starting, but perseverance pays.

This book is a wonderful story of life in Christ and the trust in Him. If you like a book about the Amish but also the plan of salvation you will love this book. I truly enjoyed the story and would recommend this book to anyone. It is a love story of men women and of Gods son. The author wonderfully lays out the story of salvation and the reading is easy to listen to. Whether listening to the story or reading the printed book it is well worth the time.

Wonderful story of faith

It’s so interesting how these devout “religious” people have managed to survive for so many generations without a relationship with Jesus Christ or even to read the Bible. I found myself cheering for these fictional characters, hoping they represent real people.

NiceStory about Amish salvation…

This is what is happening in many families today saying a Christian & love of God !
Did. Jesus take way our sins or can you earn your way to heaven. To know Gods word & hVe a relationship with God.
Not to judge to know we all come short of what heaven requires without Jesus love & grace
How to come together in peace.

How can loving Jesus have division?

“The Parting” was a very refreshing and inspiring story about the joy of life found in knowing and having a relationship with God. I like how the setting is in a natural and simplistic surrounding were the focus is on the important things in life. I did not care for the narrator’s voice. While it fits the character, it seems shaky and unsteady at times.

Refreshing and Inspiring!

This is the second time round for this series of Beverly Lewis. Rachel Botchan is not the best Narrator with so many ages to read this story. As time is going by I am just getting used to her. I am changing my first writing of this review about Rachel Botchan as this Narrator and turning it around. I have listened to her longer and have found that I am able to see this young woman Nellie, that bakes and runs daily the home made Bakery adjacent to their home. She rises early to make all kinds of baked goods that her friends and customers love what all that this young person is able to do. It helps support the family. Her father built this bakery that is so well known in the town. Rachel does a very good job narrating this Amish family.

Sadly her younger sister Susie, had drowned in a local pond when a group of the group of Susie's friends took a boat out and the boat tipped. Susie was the only one that did not have a life jacket to wear and drowned, This story is written about Susie though out this Novel and the diary that she had written that Nellie had found after her passing.

Nellie and Caleb were very much in love and their romance grows until his father puts a serious blockage in the way of their marrying. Thus the Parting ends Book 1 of this series.

I typically enjoy books by this author, but I was unable to get invested in this storyline. Hopefully others will enjoy, I’m moving on

Made it to chapter 11.
