Magnificent!

This story brought me to my knees. Abandonment, betrayal, redemption, and love, so much love. I was crying hard by the end, and I don't cry. KJ Charles is amazing! Cornell is a joy to listen to. I have been buying up every KJ Charles audio and ebook I can find😊

good as always

this was good as it ever was and a good conclusion of the series 👏 would like to see more world building for the magic involved but perhaps the writer will do that later

frustrating

my least favorite trope of all time is the “please let me explain” and “i don’t want to hear your excuses” when literally one sentence would clear everything up. this book repeats that trope over and over till i want to kill the main characters myself.

Consistent with quality of other works

I love KJ Charles series’. Jackdaw is part of Charm of Magpies series & its villains are the protagonists from earlier on in the series (justiciary, Lord Crane, Steph). KJC’s story formula is perfect. She doesn’t linger on the unpleasant parts of the storyline. Conflict gets resolved & obstacles are overcome quickly (which I very much appreciate, as I tend to suffer emotionally alongside the MCs). KJC includes a lot more on page steamy-sexy kissy bits, than other authors in the genre. I think KJ Charles has surpassed Cat Sebastian as my favorite m/m romance author. I wish for many more books written by this author—I have loved 100% of KJC content thus far (including the blog!)

excellent conclusion to the magpie lord

let me start by saying this is my second attempt at reading jackdaw. im Not a fan of excess angst. having said that, i am very glad i took a second chance. jackdaw is perfect. ben and jonah are wonderful and the story ties up questions of the magpie lord series. highly recommend the book

A True Underdog Reform Story

Jonah was just precious. it really made me want to shake Stephan, but that us what happens when we don't take into account what others lives may have been like.

I wasn't sure if I'd like a book not about the Magpie Lord exclusively, but this is a great addition to the storyline.

My favorite in the series

At first I was skeptical of a Magpie story without Stephen/Lucien but I absolutely adore this one. I find Jonah just so lovable and I want to protect him (from my darling Stephen Day no less!!!). He and Ben are a great pairing, and even tho it has a little bit of that OH MY GOD JUST BLURT OUT WHAT YOU NEED TO SAY AND FIX THIS JESUS CHRIST energy for a bit, it’s my favorite in the series for sure. Lovely.

AMAZING

This is such an amazing universe! One of the best I’ve read!
We finally get to see our sneaky thief Jonah’s side of the story, and know who he was trying to protect.
This book had betrayals, adventures, laughs, sexy times and a very vengeful Day.
I was absolutely hooked since the beginning! Wonderful!
I recommend reading the Magpie Lord series since the beginning, you’ll get major spoilers of you read this book first.

Gaaaaaaaaayyyyy........... but in a good way!

Just listened to this again. The first time was about a year ago. Was even better than I remember. K.J. Charles is definitely one of my favorite authors. 😍

I liked it.

Ben and Jonah were on the wrong side of the law but find a cozy town hoping to escape their fates.
