Where does In Bed with a Highlander rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It ranks pretty high. I have listened to many audiobooks and this is one of my favorites.

What did you like best about this story?

I really just love Ewan and Mairin. They are just so sweet.

What about Kirsten Potter’s performance did you like?

I loved the way she read the book. Her voices were amazing and her enthusiasm while reading is unmatched. I would find more books read by her just to hear her voice.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I loved the part when Mairin is listing different suggestions on what to do with the traitor and Caelen says she is so bloodthirsty. I love it!

Excellent Antidote

I downloaded this book after reading an extremely intense – though excellent novel – thinking I needed some light fare to get me past that experience. I can’t say it was light but it did the trick; I ended up downloading the series (though I still cannot get the other book out of my head – excellent).

This is another Highlander novel full of warring, angry, avenging, protective, gods of early Scotland. (I absolutely KNOW I will be very disappointed if I ever get to Scotland, but I am somehow drawn there LOL).

This novel had a good plot, not many surprises but it kept my interest. (It is always about lack of communication.) Mairin is no wilting flower though naive and over protected. Her entire sum knowledge of relationships comes from a Mother Superior in a convent where she grew up, so you know where some confusion comes in.

Ewan is the laird of a previously conquered clan by the mysteriously evil laird of another Highland clan. In stumbles Mairin after escaping the previously mentioned evil-doer, with the help of Ewan’s 7 year old son – and it ends up being a love match.

It isn’t great literature but it does distract from sociopaths and co-workers that could use some Highlander revenge once in a while. I did end up downloading the other two books for the same reasons – excellent distractions – not bad writing, and some good love scenes.

I didn’t mention Kristen Potter – she makes it worth the credit - honestly. I just love her voice and narration. I could listen to her all day.

I think it was worth the credit and I will listen again. I purchased it the end of August and have not forgotten the plot (seriously? Alzheimer’s has not gotten to me yet).

Good book

Not enough sex. Maya is good at writing steamy scenes. I wish she put some of that in this book.

I have read this and listen to this story many times that's how good this book is. the narrator does an excellent job of keeping you engrossed in the story and if telling the tale.

Wonderful Narrator

What made the experience of listening to In Bed with a Highlander the most enjoyable?

The narrator had a great voice and their brogue for the Highlands of Scotland was perfect. She also did a great job distinguishing between men and women.

What was one of the most memorable moments of In Bed with a Highlander?

The h's relationship with the H's son Crispin. It was sweet and everything you would want in a parent/child relationship.

Yes BUT not as audio. The narrator was not good.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

If the narrator was better. She made Ewan sound weak even though the author made him appear as a warrior.

Good story but bad narrator!

I liked it but...

I think it was overpriced. I also think the title & cover were not really a good fit. You would think it was a lot steamier than it was - especially for Maya Banks.

Anyway, that said, it really was a good story & I enjoyed that, which is why I gave it four stars. I also thought the narration was good, although she sounded more Irish than Scottish at times. The audio volume also went in & out a bit, so the sound quality could have been better.

I'd say it was worth a credit if you're into Highland romances. But I wouldn't pay $20 for it...and there are books on my wish list that are higher on my list for credits so I'm not sure if & when I'll get to the others in the series.

OMG!

From beginning to end this book did not disappoint. It has everything from kidnapping to sword fights to betrayal to justice! Fell in love with all the main characters and this is now up there as one of my favorites highlander romance books! I was on the edge of my seat the last 2 hours of it as well. Sooooo good!!!

enjoyed the emotion

the narrator was wonderful. i've read the book but needed something to listen to while packing. this story was great. the narrator made it like i was hearing the story for the first time. i found myself stopping just to listen and enjoy! Maya Banks is a wonderful writer and i have enjoyed reading her stories.
