Publisher's Summary

Rhys Bellamy is the front man for the wildly successful 13 Shades of Red, a band hailing from New Orleans that is just a bit more than they appear. He's sexy, caustic, and on a path of self-destruction that has everything to do with the fact that he can speak to the dead.

A man hounded by the death of his fiancée, Rhys is a lothario of the highest caliber. His life, his band, and his agony celebrate his lost love, Phaedra, and it has made him a very popular man with the ladies, even if they will never mean anything to him. Too bad Phaedra has never and will never contact him.

When the band's first US tour meets with some unforeseen management issues, Saffron Richards is brought in to take care of it. A veteran of the business, Saffron knows all about Rhys and his reputation and doesn't want to become another notch on his belt. Too bad fate has it in for the both of them and gives them an attraction neither can deny.

Life on the road with an up-and-coming band has its problems, from bosses to groupies to just plain old flat tires. Phaedra, who has been watching from the mists and reveling in the misery of her lost lover doesn't want to see him happy.

Phaedra crosses the veils on All Hallow's Eve to reignite the love that Saffron has set to ash in Rhys. Phaedra is not giving him up without a fight. Not because she loves him but because she doesn't ever want him to forget.

RHYS AND SAFFRON=NEW ROMANCE!!!

What did you love best about Giving Up the Ghost (13 Shades of Red)?

That Saffron was feisty...and even though she fought her attraction to Rhys she gave in and she learned that she made him whole again!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Rhys...he is dark and a bit broody, and is gifted yet haunted...he is a good guy inside..and Saffron is bringing it out in him!

Which scene was your favorite?

Supernatural cat fight!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Saffron learns she makes Rhys happy like no one else ever has...I thought that was really sweet!

Any additional comments?

Any additional comments?

This was a new author to me and a genre that I have not read a lot of. Initially I was a little lost, but I quickly became involved. I really enjoyed this book.
Rhys Bellamy is a troubled man, almost destroyed by the death of his fiancé. What hurts him the most is that he can see and speak to the dead and yet Phaedra has not come to him in death. The lead singer in the 13 Shades of Red band, he has spiralled down a road that he may not be able to come back from.
Enter Saffron Richards who is hired to manage the band. She is determined to avoid the serial ladies’ man and concentrate on her job only, but she doesn’t count on the insane attraction that she feels for the tortured Rhys nor the fact that the attraction is mutual.
I enjoyed the interaction of the two main characters . The sex between these two was hot and erotic and the paranormal twist that was woven throughout the story kept me reading to see what was going to happen next.
I look forward to reading more from S.A. Price and to be honest I am rather anxious to see what happens to the other members of the band.
I was given this recording in exchange for an honest review
Paranormal Rock n Roll

This was an interesting story. I can truly say that this is the first story that I've read that has a character that can speak to the dead, a demon and a witch.

As a whole, the story was a fun ride. I think the characters could have been developed a bit more.

The narration seemed a bit flat. The distinction between the different characters wasn't as defined as it possibly could have been.

Overall it was an enjoyable escape.

I loved the story and the narrator was good but I like when there are duo narrator's for the male and female parts. This was the first book from this author I heard now I need the rest plus the ebooks so I can follow along.

Thirteen Shades of Red Book One

Thirteen Shades of Red Book One

Saffron Richards is surprised when she is contacted to be the tour manager for an up-and-coming band way out of her normal star range. She immediately signs onto the tour, though, even if only to appease her own curiosity. When she finds out that she was chosen simply because she wasn't on the radar of the rich and famous, she is a bit hurt but not discouraged. However, Rhys Bellamy might just be her undoing. After one night she is already sliding down the slippery slope to sensual ruin.

If you're looking for a bit of magic on top of the star powered romance, this is the book for you!

A fun look backstage at a rather unique rock band

Giving Up the Ghost is a multilayered rock star romance with a touch of paranormal. Rhys Bellamy is our hero a rock star whose heart was shattered by the loss of his true love. The bands hits are songs he has written bemoaning his loss. He would have been okay if her ghost had hung around to talk to him as he can see ghosts but in all the time since she has been gone not once has she gotten in touch. Saffron Richards is the new tour manager for the band and Rhys is smitten from the first time he lays eyes on her. He has a new chance at happiness and damned if his old girlfriends ghost doesn’t show up to ruin his new start. This is a fun look backstage at a rather unique rock band and staff. I am really glad I read it and am going to get the next book ASAP.

A Unique Mixture of Paranormal and Rock Romance!

Giving Up the Ghost is the first book in the 13 Shades of Red series by S.A. Price. A behind the scenes look at a band's life with an intriguing mixture of supernatural elements.

Giving Up the Ghost is a story I didn't know much about when I started it. Going in blind was a perfect way to start and I quickly became fascinated with the entire cast of characters. Each character held a unique feeling to them and as the story went on I became even more intrigued by the psychology of the story. What happens when the one you were so in love with dies and your grief shades the truth of who they truly were. Rhys Bellamy had obtained his obsession and then lost her again. Consumed by grief for years he finally begins to resurface, only to realize maybe his reality was only a shade of what it was. This aspect is what pushed this story to the 4 mark for me. The beginning held a few things that I didn't quite understand especially regarding Saffron. Although, I loved her character I thought a few of her actions in the beginning didn't really fit her overall personality. However, as a whole Saffron and Rhys' story is truly unique and entertaining!

The paranormal aspects were not overwhelming and just added enough to the story to enhance the depth of not only betrayal, but of true friendships.

I rate Giving Up the Ghost 4 out of 5 Bullets!
