Publisher's summary

Rachel Porter, a romance writer, has told her three sons tales of finding their true soul mate since they were just boys. She believes that there is but one match for every person. Now as men, they have yet to discover their soul mates. That is, until they come home....

Ryan Porter needs a change from his busy city lifestyle. After five years of living in New York and establishing his own real estate firm, something is still missing. When a tragedy brings Ryan back to his family's rural home in Maine, he finds that missing piece.

Tyra has heard stories of Ryan since she first met his family years earlier. Now Ryan has come home, and he is more than she dreamed he would be. Neither can fight their attraction for the other. And while Tyra just might be the catalyst for the change Ryan needs, first he must embrace Tyra's secrets.

With family secrets creeping out, a profitable relationship ending, trouble with his company, and the unexpected loss of his father, Ryan's life has been thrown off course. The one thing he's got going for him is the new woman stirring up emotions he's never experienced before. Tyra might be the one who convinces Ryan there's truth to his mother's tales of a soul mate.

Coming Home Review...

Story was decent, but not the narration. Too slow and drawn out.

She has a really nice reading voice that brings pretty good emotion to the characters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No I had to hear the story over a few days.

Fated Love, NOT a Wrong Brother story

Any additional comments?

Do you love Fated Love?
I can take Insta Love, but more in paranormals and SciFi. For contemporary romance, it can sometimes come off as, well? Even one of the characters addresses it: "...it is all too good to be true."
Yeah, it would be. But if I love the characters, love the story, I will follow them down that path.
Something strange happened with this story though: I started fervently hoping for a case of The Wrong Brother.
Sure, that'd be weird in of itself to be with one brother then go to another - but I really liked Henry. Yes, they were just friends, but him comforting her when she needed a hug, saying reassuring things when she needed to hear them, making her laugh, and smile, and being good to her, and saving her and being the one to bring her into the family? If the hero had been Henry, I'd have been all over this.
Why didn't I connect with the actual hero of the story? I think in an effort to make Ryan more realistic, events happen, and his reactions fit what people would do in real life. I prefer more doses of fantasy in my romance where the hero doesn't come off as kind of... immature. Again though: in real life? And around your siblings? Sigh. It happens.

But after listening to dark romances where terrible, terrible things happen to the heroines this book was a splash of sweet, of easy, kind, with no cliffhanger, and kept me hoping (even if it was for the other brother ;)

Coming Home

Coming Home: Porter Brothers, Book 1
: Paloma Beck

This is the first book I have read from this author. An interesting storyline of sons returning home after their fathers accident. The oldest decided to have a fling even though he is involved (even if unemotionally ) with a woman back home. I didn't care for the quick romp, but I guess each to their own. Tyra had a secret she didn't share with Ryan for an understandable reason..........almost.

The narration was ok, except I didn't care for the breathiness. Kim Park's regular voice was better. The characters were well portrayed for what we knew of them. I'm moving to " Never Coming Home.)

Not sure how I feel

I liked parts but was confused by other parts. The narrator was not my favorite but did a good job.

Promising Series

*

The series revolves around three brothers and their parents (including a mother set on 'soulmates'.) Coming Home is a very sweet, contemporary romance.

Ryan Porter is a big deal real estate tycoon in New York City. Ryan has an obnoxious girlfriend, she is with him for the status. He has achieved almost all of his goals but feels that something is missing. When called home for a family emergency, things fall in line for him. When he arrives at the family's lake house in Maine he has opportunity to meet his mother's assistant, Tyra. Ryan is really intrigued by her.

Read along as Ryan begins to learn who and what is important in his life. His mother and brothers are full of advice for him and there are a couple of twists that keep this romance book fresh and outside the cookie-cutter trap!

I enjoyed Kim Park's performance. She told the story without distraction, easily making it believable.

I really hope that the rest of the series, by Paloma Beck, becomes available on Audible. I am a fan!

FYI As with most contemporary romances, Coming Home has some intimate scenes.

Finding your soulmate

Would you listen to Coming Home again? Why?

Yes, I'm sure there are parts I missed and it would be just as good the second time.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Coming Home?

There was a scene where Ryan take Tyra out on a boat and they have an intimate experience. Ryan begins to realize that Tyra is very special and that he has begun to have feelings for her.

Did Kim Park do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Kim Park did a great job differentiating all of the characters. I loved Ryan's throaty sexy voice in particular.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Ryan meets Layne, Tyra's daughter, he has an immediate connection to her and it's just so sweet and believable.

I might have to read this one.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Not based on the performance of the work. All of the characters sound as if they are high and/or slow. The way the characters are given voice was such a turn off that I couldn't continue to listen to the story. It was too much. I am going to grab the ebook version of the book because I want to know what happens with the brothers.

Good Contemporary Romance

I enjoyed this story. It was my first book from this author. There were some really sad moments and some sweet moments. There were secrets being kept that made things more complicated.

Narrator did a fairly good job bringing the story to life. I'll be reading her next book in this series.
