Come Back to Me

The story in this audiobook shows the strength you have even when you think you have nothing left to live for. I loved this book and it's hard to pause and put it down.

Undecided about Blake 🤔

First off I did enjoy most of this book. It's high on the drama and some of the characters are not very likable. Fortunately Adriana the heroine of this story is a admirable character with tons of strength. After loosing so many people in her family from various deaths.. It's a wonder this woman didn't fall apart. Her evil witch of a sister Alexis wasn't a tragic loss for me.
But dealing with all this tragedy on her own was a hard to listen to.

I'm on the fence with Blake he fakes his own death stays gone for 4 year's all while constantly professing his love for Adriana. I feel like I need a pair of boots to navigate my way through all of Blake's far fetched BS. I mean I get why he left, but come on.. if he loved Adriana so much, why didn't he come back when she really needed him? I feel like he had opportunitie's that he just didn't take. And then I have to address the way he came back in her life well, that was a bit of a unrealistic 💊 to swallow. The chances of a situation in real life happening this way is probably about the same chance you have of winning the lottery lol. For a while the only good thing Blake had in his favor was the fact that he was celibate while he was away.

Though it was hard for me to warm up to Blake, I will say that what his character lacked in compassion for his wife he more than made up for between the sheets lol. To be so melancholy and dramatic this book did have some pretty steamy scenes in it (I'm certainly not complaining about that). Blake's uber hot bedroom antics definitely earned him a few brownie points with me. Yeah.. my ears were seduced by the sex and it made me want to foget what I didn't like about his character.

The narration was great! Lacy And Logan did a very good job acting out the characters with plenty of emotion and feeling. Lacy has a soft pleasant voice while Logan's is deep and sexy they complement each other perfectly.
This is my first Kathy Coopmans book though, I didn't care for all the characters.. I do like her writing style and will definitely be buying more of her book's in the future. I own a ton of book's and somehow this talented author had escaped my attention. I was gifted this book in exchange for my honest review. I wish we would have got more out of the epilogue, but I still think it was worth the time spent listening.

Looks like I'm in the minority...

Apparently this book just wasn't for me. I'm not sure if it was the story, the narration, or a combination of both but, I just could not get into it. I restarted several times and finally gave up and deleted it. I received a review copy at my request and voluntarily reviewed.

Good narration. Confusing and unbelievable story

I enjoyed Lacy Laurel’s narration of Come Back to Me. Her depiction of Adriana, the heroine, as a woman drowning in her grief is spot on. Logan McAllister’s voice was wonderful to listen to.

However good the narration may be, the story itself is lacking. And I think the narration highlights areas where the book could have been improved upon.

The biggest challenge I had in believing this story was that the reasons for separating Blake and Adriana become somewhat of a non-issue once they are reunited. Poor explanations, unbelievable reasons and a lack of worry about retribution take a back seat. Worse, if it wasn’t for a chance meeting, Blake had no intention of seeking out Adriana, so his attitude of ‘we will be together because I say so’ rings false.

Adding to this is the confusion of both Blake’s and Adriana’s recollections of past conversations while in the present. Several times I had to rewind the audio because I thought I had missed something. That wasn’t the case. Sure, the background information was important in trying to understand people’s actions but it was introduced at the wrong time.

come back to me

overall book was good. there are times where you just want to slap him for not giving her a option before he came up with a fake death. what if she wanted to go on the run with him ?? felt so bad for her that he put her through hell amd back, made her cry and suffer loss. But once she forgave him and knew the whole story the book got really good with hot, steamy, sex between the two!! thank you for letting him be a hero who didnt have sex with any other woman and not a loser who would think twice about cheating on hid wife! i was given a copy of this book for free at my request and voluntarily left this review!

Meh

The whole story is implausible. I can suspend disbelief but not when I have to do it every other page. I also really disliked the male m/c. His inner dialogue almost verbatim was, "No, she doesn't get a choice about that because I'm sick of waiting."

That's disgusting, but what do you expect from a relationship thay began like theirs did? She screamed at him for breaking her camera and he kissed her. Because that's the pinnacle of sexiness: a guy who takes anything he wants after he's destroyed your stuff.

Plus his random inner thoughts about how he wanted to spank her in punishment. Was that supposed to be kinky? If it had been established that their relationship included spank play, fine. As it is, it sounded like he wanted to beat his wife for things he disagreed with.

Sprinkle in an ample helping of sex shaming, and this wasn't the book for me.

Good narrators though.

just not my cup of tea

i almost DNF'd this book several times, but i forced myself to finish. i kept hoping it would get better, it didn't.

i like dirty books, i don't always listen to all the scenes but they don't bother me, but this book had no real plot. if you took out the sex or dirty talk i think the book would have been 1 hour long. there was less plot than a porno. i need plot!!!! both characters were not likable. the h was a total doormat and the H was not a nice guy. i can't really tell you anything or well i'll tell you the entire plot since there was really no more than what is in the description.

if you want to just read overdone sex scenes- go for it- but honestly, unless it's free, don't waste a credit on this.

this was free for me to review.

New storyline

This was definitely a storyline I hadn’t heard before. It was well written and the characters were developed nicely. Half way through I did find it surprising that the story hadn’t progressed further and to be honest I frequently questioned the timeline. There is a lot of going back and forth between the past and the present. I’m sure when reading the book yourself this comes across as clear however in an audiobook format it threw me off at times. Solid performance from the narrators, I always love when it’s a male female duo.

I requested this book as a gift and I’m leaving this review voluntarily.

Good story....but

3.5 stars
I'm torn on this book. On one hand it's a very entertaining, engaging and enjoyable story. On the other hand there are parts of it that drove me crazy. Although it's a good story I struggled with this book in the beginning. I actually stopped the book about 15 min in and came back to it another day. The second time was much better but the story really didn't grab hold of me until Logan McAllister joined into the narration. From then on I was hooked, and was irritated anytime I had to pause the book for any reason.

A second chance at love. How far would you go to protect someone you love? That is the choice Blake had to make. In the process he destroyed 2 lives.

For me the story dragged a few times. It unfolded much slower than it should have with the constant internal thoughts and dialog and of the characters. It also effected the flow of the story for me. I just wanted them to get it together already. At the same time I really enjoyed that it is told through dual POV's so you understand what each of them is feeling or thinking.

Although she grows on you Adriana's character just didn't come across as likable in the beginning and her character just didn't pull me into the story. She came across as insecure and too much in her head for me. She was constantly going over the same things in her head over and over. While I understand her reservations and feelings it gets annoying after a while. Blake's character was also a little too much in his head but it was more interesting/tolerable. He had different/more interesting reasons for his inner turmoil.

I do really like the fact that no matter the circumstances Blake stayed true to his wife. Even when he thought he would never be able to be with her again he didn't move on and forget about her. He loved his wife down to his soul. Everything he did was to protect her.

Logan McAllister and Lacy Laurel did a great job with the narration. Once Logan McAllister joined in they balanced each other out. The deep, rough gravelly of Blake's character with the soft, insecure and fragile of Adriana's. Really good character voices. Clearly spoken with a nice even pace. They were able to bring the characters, their emotions and the story to life. Very enjoyable.

What Would You Do?

This was a very thought provoking story, Blake, really loved his wife, he loved her so much that when her life was put in danger by something he has done he could only think of one way of saving her - he had to die!

Andriana loved her husband, she loved him so much that when he died she might as well have died too. The only thing keeping her going is the fact that she loves her grandmother, who brought her up after the death of her parents, and she has to look after her sister Alexis.

Alexis is a drug addict a total piece of work, I don't know how anyone could be as good and patient with someone as Adriana is with her. In fact I quickly lost my patience with Adriana as the story unfolded because it seemed she had put her sister before herself and more importantly before Blake.

When Adriana finds out that Blake is alive she initially is unforgiving but as the facts come to light she accepts what he did and why but will they ever be able to make a life together, albeit not the life they originally planned?

The book was very well performed and the story was well done up until about the last 5th of the book, then it seemed that the most important thing to either of them was sex and I personally felt that after what had happened talking and getting to the bottom of things would have been more important. For this reason I have deducted one star.

Good Listen

This was a really good second chance romance which is told in dual POVs.

This is a story about loss and finding the strength to deal with what life throws at you. This is also a story is about hope, forgiveness and betrayal.

I really liked the chemistry between Adriana and Blake and Logan McAllister & Lacy Laurel did a great job narrating and conveying this.

Review.

This is a very good story, I like this author and intend to read and listen to more of her work. The presenters are excellent, I always prefer a male and female presenter reading but I know that is not always possible due to cost. In this case having both works really well and makes all the difference.
