Publisher's Summary
The Legion has landed....
The Republic world of Kima has fallen with shocking speed to the renewed forces of the Mid-Core Rebellion, and General Chhun must lead the rebuilt and enhanced 131st Legion - along with Marines, Dark Ops, Navy, and Kimbrin Resistance - onto the planet to violently check their assault.
But timing is of the essence, and Chhun can’t do it alone. Bear, working undercover, unearths the treachery of a resurgent Nether Ops still working their dark influence from the shadows. Masters has his hands full just staying alive while he evades deadly pursuers. And Keel finds himself swept up in intrigues that may make the planetary takeover of Kima all but insignificant.
The battle is fierce and hard, but victory is always within reach so long as the Legion - remade to its initial purpose - remains to fight.

You can just read the summary of this book and you'll be fine. This book is more like the order of Centurion side stories only voiced by RC Bray. This book made me feel like it was the cpt. marvel of the MCU. You're under the impression that you must watch that movie to understand the rest of the series. In reality it's just filler to pad someone's pockets.

Another book with no plot
The second book of filler content in a row. I haven't been able to finish this book despite breezing through every other. There's a couple chapters setting up main it arc movement, but they're hardly even cliff hangars - they feel like a conversation stopped in the middle. The new characters are forgettable, the old ones are watered down. The book is mostly just about a battle for Kima, written from a joint forces perspective. The writing wasn't entertaining or good enough for me to follow the battle at all and all the chapters blend together. The lack of anything besides combat makes it feel like a cheap Michael Bay movie with more explosions and tacticool than substance. The entire book (and last one) could have easily been explained in two or three chapters of a real "main story" book, or be saved for one of the dozens of offshoots about specific incidents.
As a big GE fan, this one feels like the authors wasting everyone's time. Again. I'd suggest just saving your money and reading spoilers, can't recommend this book for any reason.

Gents, get back to the story!
The good:
RC Bray. He could make a dinner menu at the old folks home sound amazing somehow.
The prologue. This is basically the only part of the book that moves the narrative forward. The rest of the book, minus maybe the last two pages didn't do a single thing to move things along. Unfortunately this is now a trend as it is the 2nd book in a row to do this.
I understand that some things require focus on detail to help flesh out the narrative. The story of Crometheus and all of the details, the hamburgers, the arcade, all help tell of how humanity, even the most grounded of us with great childhoods and stable upbringing, given the right circumstances, can create what became The Savages. See Nazi Germany in the 1930s for another example. This focus, coupled with great storytelling, a fully fleshed out narrative, and fully developed characters is what has made me love Galaxy's Edge.
While I understand that the authors are here in large part to make money, these last two books seem to me a little too much like straight $$$ grabs vs fully fleshed out stories that are to be part of the Galaxy's Edge storyline. Maybe a standalone battle book for those that want that. Create great stories, and your extra cash will come from the swag sales (I know it has worked on me seeing all the shirts and posters I've bought).
The only other thing I can think of is that what seemed to be a very heavy Nick driven series with much of the 3 Savage Wars books, Jason wanted to throw his three battle books, and we have these. Pure speculation on my part.
Bottom line, get back to telling the story.

it's too much battle...
there are moments that becomes confusing. I understand the realism off the battle but it's too much... I think it needs a parallel story in between, like Ford, or Prisma. I don't know... or just feel tiring and my brain start to disconnect.

Filler story, you can skip this and miss nothing
Galaxy's Edge books are usually an instant buy for me, but after this one, I think I will wait for reviews before I purchase the next book. the action was boring and confusing, and too many new characters. we barely focused on any of the existing characters or story arcs which was disappointing and helped this to feel like a filler book. The significance of this planetary battle was not shown in this book, not even as a dramatic reveal at the end. As such, you can skip thia book, and miss nothing of value.
so why didn't this book work with its new characters? well, For example, new characters and story worked in Legionnaire, as each character had unique personalities, had time to shine and develop, whilst keeping the story simple, and the action broken into digestable chunks, with quiet times to let us become attached to characters. Unlike in Legionnaire, here when adding so many new characters, we never got time outside of the action to connect with them. Every character feels the same, and details about them is drowned underneath constant technical details about equipment... it seriously got a bit much! Also, Bear felt like a completely different character to his previous books. Felt like he was trying to act like Cpt Keel or Masters. It all felt jarring and dull.
To have made this book a success, we should have been able to follow in depth, an established character in one storyline, a new one in a second, and a combination of new and old in the third. Instead we have 5 or 6 seperate chains, even with minor overlap, it was too much. I can't name a single new character except Bubbles... and Cpt... pilot dude. can't even remember. They flew as Reaper 1 and got some time to stand out. They had the most potential, but I forget their name even by the end.
sorry guys, but this wasn't your best work. good luck with the next book!

The first GE audiobook, that i did not enjoy at all
Too much technicalities, way too much details, and a serious disapointment compared to the other books. The whole book focuses on one single event, that i fail to see the significance regarding the overall story. Offers nothing about the previous main characters, such as Prisma, etc.
Don't get me wrong, it would make a great spinoff book, but in my opinion this is way too little to be a true sequel to those previous books.
Bray did an excellent job though, as always.

After so many books building up such suspense with the characters and such a great storyline running in the background, I don't get the last 2 books! it's a random war with characters I've no connection with which made it just a background book rather than listening to hanging on every word. the narrator is awesome as always but I just didn't get the point of the story... may have to listen again at some point but I may have come to the point where my favorite book series has lost a bit of interest for me

Great narration, but …
The narration by RC Bray as great as ever.
The story line has opened up some context on a number of characters but the lengthy and micro details of the battle screens got a bit bogged down and could skip a chapter or two without missing much of the story.

good not great
less time explaining all thr weapons systems and more time on KTF and character development. Half this book is just explaining Weapons systems and endless squad comms banter. This is not the USA marines, these are legionaries a bit more professionalism would be good. When in doubt think what would Rex say on the comms and write that. like in the book the 100.

Contractual Obligation
First.. The good things.. RC Bray, as usual, is fantastic... And that's it. A nothing story that doesn't advance the general story in any way. The authors probably had to churn out something in a tight time frame under pressure from the publisher.. Or some such reason. Because this was empty of anything... Spoiler Alert. Legion goes to a planet, kills the bad guys, the end.. A credit that will certainly be refunded.. A pity as I enjoy the serious but this was a waste of time.

Frustrating..
Start with how much I love the series, characters and plot lines.... However, quite disappointed at the hours and hours of fighting description with so many new characters it was hard to care about. (with the exception of 'Bubbles', who was genius). Like an endless car chase in a film, becomes boring, boring, boring.
I know it's military sci-fi genre, but the 'big boys adventure fantasy' is not my reason for liking the series... The best books here balance the politics, characters, story arc, and the fighty stuff. Remains falls down here and is more frustrating than anything.... There were good things in parts, and I can appreciate how aspects of this battle will add to the wider arc... But too much shooty stabby, for far too long.
Looking forward to next... Soon as possible please lads.

Skip this book
0 story progress. Too much detail for stuff that does not matter. really puts me off paying $$ for the next issue.
Sad.

Boring filler story. Worst GE book of season 2
This book adds very little to the GE series or story arc. 90% of this book is a very boring description of legion battle on Kaimer. There is very little here other than "the MCR is better prepared than anticipated", with obvious references they are working with the savages. That's it, but drawn out for 12hours. You only have a few minutes of story from the main characters.. even Chueng is a bit part player in this story. Honestly I wouldn't waste my time on this book. All you need to know is that the Savages are using the MCR on Kaimer, Masters is missing and Kiehl meets up with everyone who needs him.

A little disappointed
After enjoying the rest of the series soo far, this book found me disappointed. Too much militarily jargon and new characters, without the ongoing storyline. I spent the whole book just waiting for the storyline to continue from where it left off.

Different Pace
previous stories allowed intro into other aspects of other characters lives as they journey through various missions. This books focus on one world and a large scale battle offered a different story pace and an obvious lead up to the bigger picture as to why the battle is significant.. look forward to the next instalment.. cudos to the Bray for his skills.

Lack lustre
This series really seems like it's turned into money grabbing, the books are shorter and it seems like the story isn't really going anywhere

Sadly just a war porn book
I adore the galaxy's edge series. I could not stop listening to it and have bought each book after discovering it day 1. The story has been sensational, the characters the same and of course RC Bray's narration a thing of beauty that has me searching his librarary for new books.
But this "season" of galaxy's edge started strong, but this and the last book felt out of place and personally, just not what I'm reading a star wars style book for.
For reference, this and the last book would be the equivalent of teasing a gripping star wars story of how kanobe teams up with Vader to take on some enemy, then spends the entire time instead focusing on ewoks fighting storm troopers.
They've teased the story twice now and it feels more like a bait and switch. Like this book for example has the characters and story lines collide and gets you excited for what should be a great book, only for it to be another teaser for a future book. I mean it was great to see the legion go full league, no doubt, and happy for a chunk of the book to be it, but I'm reading these for a scifi adventure, not military porn.
A side note though. The earlier book dedicated entirely to the dark fleet battle was mind numbingly good. I'm not against it and it was written and narrated so good it gives me chills. But that book was progressing the story. This book now should have condensed the fight so as to not be two books worth of little progression or be a side story not in the galaxy's edge series.
Apologies for the long review and lack of overwhelmingly positive reviews on the previous books. Just frustrated at waiting for the story for two books and getting bored for the first time listening to this series. This is purely a personal opinion
