Publisher's Summary

A witch is a wise woman, a healer. Yet for so long the word witch has had negative connotations. In this book, third generation hereditary witch Lisa Lister explains the history behind witchcraft, why identifying as a healer in past centuries led women to be burned at the stake, and why the witch is reawakening in women across the world today. This book provides an overview of the different schools of witchcraft and the core principles and practices within them. Discover ancient wisdom made relevant for modern witches:

  • The wheel of the year, the sabbats, the cycles of the moon
  • Tools to enhance your intuition, including oracle cards and dowsing, so that you can make decisions quickly and comfortably
  • Understanding the ancient use of the word medicine
  • How to work with herbs, crystals and power animals so that you have support in your spiritual work
  • Work with the elements to achieve deep connection with the world around you

In addition, Lisa teaches personal, hands-on rituals and spells from her family lineage of gypsy witch magic to help you heal, manifest, and rediscover your powers.

Probably better to get physical book

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would. The information is good and inspiring.

What did you like best about this story?

The historical perspective and the modern day practicality

What about Lisa Lister’s performance did you like?

I liked her accent and passion

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No

Any additional comments?

I wish this book came with a PDF to download the list of herbs and crystals and their properties. It would also be nice to have access to the tea recipes, etc. It's going to be hard to track back through and find those reference items. The author should offer something on her website for audible book purchasers.

Fucking fantastic

This book was both accessible and deep. I cannot recommend it highly enough to any woman who wants to stand in her power and claim her womb given fierceness and magic.

An educational and enlightening Audiobook

I’m so glad I made the decision to listen to this Audiobook. Lister does a fantastic job of conveying the spirit and will that is the foundation of her book and message. It’s filled with experience, guides, tools, examples and shared stories. I also downloaded the text to keep as a reference. Fantastic!

Reclaiming witch

This isn't a silly Halloween story. It's an EPIC book about reclaiming the title WITCH! Lisa takes you on a journey from power to silence to remembering your intuition and reclaiming your feminine power. I love this book and find it's teachings so useful I plan to purchase a physical copy also

DNF

DNF. Perhaps there's more to this book after that first couple of pages, but I decided to walk away from the all-up-in-your-face approach of telling me I'm not empowered. Moreover, I can't relate to the notion that my power emanates from my vagina.

I was hoping for a book that celebrated women and provided insights into their connection with the earth, its rhythms, its wisdom, and its elements. What I read of this one, though, made me feel bad for not walking crotch first everywhere in a pair of combat boots.

Only aimed at a specific target audience

This is my first book I checked out about witches and witchcraft. I immediately couldn't stand listening to it after maybe the 4th chapter. Everything I heard so far is a lot of how women are 'oppressed' in this society and that my empowerment all comes from my vagina. I already know about feminism, but the book introduces it like I've never heard of it, pretty much a waste of time for me to listen to it all over again. I wanted to learn about magic, witchcraft, and things. I also am not interested in hearing about how strong and great and empowered I am, I already knew that. I'm honestly pretty annoyed that the book does not even know me and what I'm capable of, yet it tells me that I am so great just because I have a uterus. This is the problem with most feminists in the West nowadays, I can't stand it.

Grounding

What made the experience of listening to Witch the most enjoyable?

I really enjoyed listening to Lisa Lister tell her story. She cuts through the crap and tells it as it is in a beautiful and inspiring way. This book is empowering and uplifting. I started listening to it when walking my dog and ended up having it on at all times, repeating chapters I loved, whilst, cooking, bathing, cleaning and even just doing nothing. I think it's even better that she's narrating her own book as the words ring even more true this way. She's clearly a very down to earth but powerful woman. I highly recommend this book to anyone who feels a bit lost in the word of Witches, or is afraid to speak about it, or even just curious. It will help guide you and let you become your own witch.

Nonsense

This is very disappointing, self indulgent nonsense. Hard to imagine who this was written for. Nothing really to do with witchcraft or witches. Avoid

Magical!

This book is absolutely fantastic! It's honest, realistic (with expectations for oneself) and, just like the title says, unapologetic. When I first recognised my calling for witchcraft I was very ridged with everything I was doing, put spells and practice before my mental health and education (I'm in sixth form) and felt I had to know everything there is and was to know about it; finding this book helped me know that it's okay to be an imperfect witch. I definitely recommend this book!

Amazing, Not for Audio in my opinion!

Would you try another book written by Lisa Lister or narrated by Lisa Lister?

Yes without a doubt. she is so passionate and that is very very contagious!

Was Witch worth the listening time?

Yes it is such an amazing and powerful book. It has influenced my lifestyle change hugely.

Any additional comments?

Even though i love this book, so much!! I dont think much of it is useful as an audio book. Due to recipes/spells etc included in the book i found i was having to write a huge amount down while listening. I have now ordered the papercopy because of this.

Too much to reference without hardcopy

There were so many things I want to reference and refer back to I will now need to still buy the hard copy book. I was great having the author read in tone of context, but too much info without hard copy to keep going back to.

Every women should read this book

I couldn’t have asked for a more divinely synced book. I loved it from start to finished and actually felt sad when it ended. This booked rocked me so hard in my core and has definitely stirred a lot of SHE energy within me. A beautifully written book of remembrance of the strength, divinity and sacredness of the feminine.

Disappointing. Essentialist views of Women. <br />

Struggled with the internalised misogyny and the sexist practice of reducing Women to their genitals. Not empowering at all. Laughable at times. Which is a pity. Because without the entitlement and cissexism the personal story was quite relatable.

An amazing reminder of the power we hold within!

Where does Witch rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is one of the best I have read so far. As with Lisa's other work, this is a really powerful read for women.

Have you listened to any of Lisa Lister’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Hearing the power in Lisa's voice, as well as her beautiful accent, really makes this book. Nothing quite compares to hearing the author speak their own stories.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The history of the witch trials and the rise of patriarchy was amazing. It really brought something up within me and emphasised the importance of the work that I do.

Any additional comments?

If you have been sitting on the fence, just do it!
