Publisher's summary

A practical guide for modern witches and healers with rituals, journal prompts, visualization exercises, and other tools.

The witch wound is a collective, intergenerational, psychic wound that has scarred people, mostly women, for centuries. The roots of this wound run deep, going back to the historical witch hunts, the Burning Times, when tens of thousands of innocent individuals were accused of practicing malicious magic and executed in the most inhumane ways. Extending perniciously beyond the accusations and murders was general persecution and marginalization of people who were suspected of having certain powers. The fear created by this oppression was passed down from generation to generation, becoming embedded not just in individual bodies and psyches, but in the collective unconscious.

Today, though not true everywhere, witchcraft is often embraced as a tool for self-empowerment and healing; yet the scars of the Burning Times remain. Many would-be witches turn away from the craft out of fear that they will be judged, shamed, mocked, vilified, or rejected by the people around them. This same sense of fear and shame causes many practicing witches and earth-based spiritualists to keep their beliefs hidden safely in the broom closet. This is the witch wound at work.

In Heal the Witch Wound, author Celeste Larsen, a pagan, witch, and ritualist, guides modern witches (as well as pagans, energy workers, occultists, and other spiritual individuals) on the path of healing the witch wound. It unfolds in three parts.

Part I journeys back into the Burning Times. This section demystifies this dark era in history by providing a well-researched overview of the European witch trials. It also includes a compelling analysis of the key factors that contributed to the witch craze: patriarchy, capitalism, imperialism, and religious tyranny.

Part II is rooted in the present and explores the most common signs and symptoms of the witch wound: fear of speaking up and being seen, hiding spiritual gifts, feeling disconnected from the divine, past-life memories, and more. The author shares personal stories of her own experiences with these symptoms and teaches listeners how to identify the witch wound in themselves.

Part III branches into the bright and brilliant future, offering an abundance of practices, both magical and mundane, to help listeners heal the witch wound.

Worth reading

I don’t agree with everything in this book, but I do find good things within it. Don’t let the therapy aspect and the political/politically correct/progressive bs make you not read this book. There are a lot of good words within it and the outlined rituals are nice too.

This explains EVERYTHING!

Such an amazingly healing book! I love all of the content. Im obsessed with the deep dive into The Witch Wound! It makes soooooo much sense.
I’m not in love with the narration is a little bit something… not sure what?. The voice of the narrator is great, but the dynamics feel like a children’s book.

A balm for the aching natue-loving soul

This is an excellent listen for any magical practioner concerned about shining thier truth, or who second guesses themselves.
Anyone who has hid their magic as a reflex would benefit from listening. It may be helpful for friends and family to listen if you can't find the words to help them understand and accept you. Of course the point is accept yourself, however, when we live surrounded by a culture who would deny your right to existence, or demonize you, it does take a toll.

The narrator is soft, clear and gentle, but not mushy. She delivers it just right- sounds like that compassionate, understanding friend we all wish for at times.

The book will not tell you that you need to parade around Salem in garb and jewelry (but if you want to - go for it), it will remind you what you already know, provide context which can be empowering and encourage you to love yourself and be you with no apology. It can help you strenthen yourself and perhaps understand why you feel inhibitions. That understanding can help you release fears and blocks which, in turn, can support you stepping into your own power. And we need empowered magical folk to stand in their power together these days don't we?
I look forward to finding more of this authors' work.

Regarding those "antiwoke" reviewers, you just revealed more about your wound than provided value with your snarks.

It’s a great read!

I loved this book. It’s very informative. It tells you about the journey of healing as a witch, as well as the trials and tribulations witches went through in the burning times. It gives meditations, the wheel of the year, and so much more!
