Publisher's summary

Got an impossible situation? The anxiety it brings can wake you in the middle of a needed night’s sleep and then stalk you in the middle of broad daylight. It can sneak up on you and cast a cloak of fear and concern over your shoulders that you can’t seem to shake no matter how hard you try. It can take you down. Squash all hope. Stop you in your tracks. Impossible. Impenetrable. Unchangeable. Maybe so...until God gets involved. No matter the details of your circumstance, his raw power potential and immeasurable ability refuse to cower in the face of any challenge. Nothing is impossible with God. Nothing. Not even that thing.

This is the uplifting, well-reasoned answer from New York Times best-selling author Priscilla Shirer - not a denial of life’s adversities and troubles but a biblical reminder that God is always up to great things, even when his great things are greater than instant remedies and visible change. He is a God who cares...and a God who can. Believe it. Experience it. God Is Able.

Great book!

I would have loved to have had Priscilla narrate this book, but narrator still did a good job. Love that the sole focus of this book is on Ephesians 3:20. Such an inspiring listen.

For those who are going through a rough season

Tough seasons come and go. These seasons come to grow us in faith and develop our character. The challenge it seems makes it more and more difficult to hold on to your faith that God can or will do something about your situation. This book reminds us what kind of God we serve and how it helps to change our perspective. For instance, at one point in the book Mrs. Shirer encourages us not to try to see God through our problem because that makes seeing God to difficult. Instead she recommends that we see our problems through God. The change in perspective helps us to put God first and realize that He is greater than even our biggest problem. I know I will listen to this again either as U come through the tough season I am in now or in the next season.

I like the way Mrs. Shirer presents her own books but I was still able to enjoy the narrator for this book.

I wish she would have hit chapter 1 at the end, again

I do appreciate Priscilla Shirer’s love for expositional learning from Scriptures. This book treks through Ephesians 3:20-21.

“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen.”

Her focus is on the all encompassing ability of God, His love for us, and His powerful actions in our lives. I was thankful for a chapter near the beginning that discussed the question of why God, with all His abilities, chooses not to change my situation. But it was a drop in the bucket of what my heart needed to hear. I understand that putting that chapter near the beginning should have helped the reader accept the remainder of the book… but I just wanted more. And when I came to the end of the book, I went back to the beginning looking for that chapter. I also enjoyed her chapter on focus, where we choose to set our eyes and mind being a crucial link to how God’s abilities change our attitudes, our hopes, and our day by day peace.

But the disconnect between what God is ABLE to do and what He DOES with His power was still too difficult for me to really enjoy this read. She hit it hard at the beginning creating moments of enrichment, but going through current difficulties really made the rest of this book a hard read. I wish she would have ended the book with more on what to do when you don’t see God’s power and abilities intervening for you.

On the upside, Lisa Renee Pitts was an excellent reader! It felt like sitting at a southern grandma’s kitchen table covered with a gingham table cloth and a couple classes of sweet tea. There was a comforting tone as she read which was nurturing to my heart.
