On the worst birthday of my life, I come home to find my boyfriend in bed with another woman. Within hours, I’m drunk, homeless, and pledging to stay single forever. And that is when the dangerously sexy Seelie King rolls through town, looking for fae like me. Every generation, the king holds a competition for Seelie queen. The electrical grid sputtered; law and government collapsed - and more than half of the world’s population was decimated. Where there had been order, there was now chaos. And as the power of science and technology receded, magick rose up in its place.

It has been 20 years since the end of the war. The dictatorial Augurs, once thought of almost as gods, were overthrown and wiped out during the conflict, their much-feared powers mysteriously failing them. Publisher's summary
Princess or adventurer.
Duty or freedom.
Her Kingdom or the storm hunter she loves.
If Aurora knows anything, it's that choices have consequences. To set things right, she joins a growing revolution on the streets of Pavan.
In disguise as the rebel Roar, she puts her knowledge of the palace to use to aid the rebellion. But the Rage season is at its peak, and not a day passes without the skies raining down destruction. Yet these storms are different - they churn with darkness and attack with a will that's desperate and violent.
This feels like more than rage.
It feels like war.

Everyone dreams of marrying a prince - except for me. I am nothing more than a pawn in my adoptive mother's diabolical plot against the seven kingdoms. I was the chosen tool, her sharpened blade that would cut the deepest into the heart of the kingdom of Baist. But like all deadly weapons, my wedding is two-edged sword that could cost me my soul. For I am Rosalie, one of the adopted daughters of Lady Eville, and it is my duty to enter into a loveless and hate-filled marriage with the narcissistic Crown Prince of Baist.

Mercenary Casia Greythorne cares about two things: completing whatever her latest job is and earning enough coin to buy the expensive medicine that's keeping her mentor alive. So when the king himself offers her a job, she can't resist the massive reward he offers - even if it means working with Captain Elander, the arrogant, mysterious right-hand to that king. Her partner may be infuriating, but at least their mission seems simple and quick enough: investigate the origins of the strange plague that's been ravaging their empire, help find a cure, and then call it a day.

If you loved Roar you will love Rage
It met and exceeded all my expectations with a surprise ending. I can't wait for the next book in this series.

Roar’s determination is infectious
Roar’s determination is infectious! While Soneela as the narrator took me awhile to get used to, I ended up liking her narration. Yes, the ending is frustrating but it makes you excited for the next book.

Decent YA fantasy novel, INCLUDED in audible sub
I enjoyed listening to the first two books of the Stormheart series while waiting for my monthly audible credit to come in. The story is well done and the characters have a lot of potential. Interesting fantasy story concept.
***SPOILERS/THOUGHTS***
Enjoyed:
I really enjoyed Aurora's coming to power portion of this story. The first storm she absorbs being young, full of life, and innocence resonates well with her character. I was hoping that when she absorbed her second soul it would be another light beautiful soul, to be the opposite of the storm-lord character. I was hoping that when she was presented with her second storm heart to take she would somehow appease the soul as she had been doing/practicing for the whole second part of the book.
The last chapter of the book could have been filled out a bit more in my opinion with a deeper connection between Aurora and Cassius before him just committing to her. It's sort of weird for him to be so head over heels for her when he only really knew her for a few days, but I see where the author was trying to go with him losing a previous fiance and having some trauma there.
I kind of wanted the storm-lord to become one of those enemy-to-lover types of character's but after the second book in this series it seems that Cassius is to fill that role instead. In the end those are the kind of character relationships I'm most interested in.

Loved it!
This book was definitely worth the wait. I loved the first book in the series and the second book was just as good. This book really set the next one up to be even better, one of my favorite series!
