It's interesting, entertaining & British

I'm about a 1/4 way through the book. It's interesting and entertaining, but be aware this takes place in a British prison. The narrator speaks with an American accent, but the words "mate," "bloke" & "whilst" are used throughout. The author and publisher where careful not to mention this, even going as far as to refer to a particular city as "The City." If you are looking for stories about San Quentin or MS13, Crypts & Bloods prison gangs, keep looking. You won't find them here.

Good story--Hobbled by narrator

This story needs a better narrator. I didn't care for the way Waites pronounced some things and gave emphasis in High-School Lunchroom ways of speaking. While this will not keep me from getting the other books in the series, I will continue to hope for a better narrator. On the narrator continuum, Waites falls between George Guidall (the absolute WORST) and Scott Brick (one of the best.) But Waites is closer to Guidall than Brick, sadly.

Mediocre at best

Very cool concept for a book but not a great delivery. The narrators voice is very monotone.

A good listen! Recommend!

If you find stories about prison life fascinating, especially from the point of view of the guards, responsible for day to day operations in that world, you’ll like this audiobook. I have over 700 audible titles in my library, and can be picky. The author shares his experiences as a guard working in the prison system day to day. From the shocking and horrific, to the funny and mundane. His style is clear, flows very well, kept my interest from the very first, to last page, and, I think the narrator did an excellent job as well. He was animated, engaged, very professional, has a very pleasant voice, and, in my opinion, gives an entertaining performance of the authors narrative. This was a great pick. I’m pleased with it. I was not given any compensation for my review, or reduction in price. I just wanted to share my thoughts regarding this title. In my opinion, it’s a winner…

Excellent

I am a lover of all things prison and true crime (my degree is also in this area). The story is beautifully told and captures your attention, and let’s the reader make up their own mind about the crazy things behind prison walls. If you want to know what life is like for a corrections officer, or life is like inside prison, told in a day to day, diary-like format, this series is for you.

Same old thing(it should tell you it’s from Australia)

Seems like all the stories are about the same. and it should tell you and the beginning before you buy that it’s from Australia or New Zealand definitely not American prisons
