Publisher's summary

Eugeena Patterson is not happy about her next-door neighbor, Louise Hopkins, being sent to live in a nursing home. Without her fellow neighborhood watch buddy, Sugar Creek isn’t the same anymore. In fact, life after retirement has become a whole new adventure of exploring social media and blogging. While she tries not to meddle into her adult children’s lives, Eugeena can’t help but dish out relationship advice.

Eugeena’s own budding romance with Amos Jones has her emotions in upheaval. Is she really finding love again as she turns 60? When a stranger reveals a stunning secret about Louise’s past, Eugeena questions if the young woman’s claim is for real or if she is a con artist? Roping in Amos for help, Eugeena digs up a few skeletons from her elderly friend’s closet.

When Eugeena stumbles upon a long forgotten murder case, she realizes the layers of a long dormant secret still have the potential to be deadly.

Wow what. A well done story

First book I have read by this author. The characters were so real and relatable. When the main character spoke or reflected it flowed naturally and was insightful. The narration was wonderfully done.

great book!

I really enjoyed this book. I mostly read fast pace hood fiction so this was a nice change of pace. Ive always been a fan of mystery and suspense so Ms. Moody did a great job keeping my interest with this one. The narration was great and the characters were easily relatable. This is the 2nd Eugenia Patterson mystery ive read and im looking forward to others.

Just enjoyable! ...

I enjoyed the twists and turns of this book and how it built from the 1st book.
The vintage love story brewing is precious. I also appreciate the fact that it doesn't shy away from the painful truths of our past in the USA.

Neighborhood Snoop

Ms. Eugeena Patterson is at it again and she will not stop until she gets to the bottom of the situation and solve the crime with her side kick Amos. I am really enjoying this series.

Good Cozy Story Unlikeable MC

I've had a love of mysteries and mystery novels since I was a kid. I've only really delved into the "cozy mystery" as of recent years just due still wanting a good mystery but without all the grit and darkness more recent fair has produced. So I always find "cozies" as good in-between, light reading when I need a break from my headier reads.

I've listened to the first novel and this one within two days and I do really enjoy these novels and the narrator is excellent. My biggest complaint is that I've found myself liking the main character less and less between the two novels. She's too much of the "old, nosy, stubborn, self-righteous, and judgey devout Christian lady stereotype" Big emphasis on the "judgey" part. It reached eye rolling levels of intolerable in this novel. Hopefully it gets better by the next book.
