Publisher's summary

“You have two lives. The second begins when you realize you have just ONE.” (Confucius)

ONE is a revolutionary exploration of individuality and enlightenment that answers the paradoxical question posed by contemporary intellectuals…how can I use the power of my own mind to create a purpose-driven life in a world seemingly without purpose?

Jerome Michael McLaughlin draws on 35 years of immersive study into human consciousness, individuality, and transcendentalism to persuasively and poetically asks us to recognize how each of us as self-aware, self-sovereign, and self-governing beings holds the key to our collective destiny; the ultimate answer to a triumphant future for us all.

In ONE, you will visit with mystical thinkers to discover the lost wisdom of antiquity. You will wander across the dazzling cosmos to witness the parallel mechanics between the mind and the universe and wade through the infinite conundrum that is human consciousness to explore the humanity-saving potential of the transformational self.

ONE is an epic journey that explores the story of you—a free, unique, and sovereign being who possesses the ultimate evolutionary superpower, the ability to change your own mind.

Fascinating journey to define self

I didn’t know what to expect, but the title Intrigued me. Citing Plato, Socrates, Jesus and others, the author causes one to ponder the journey to discover self. Worth a listen.

A weaving together

McLaughlin has taken us for a journey and it does not disappoint. On a voyage to discover consciousness and the operations of the mind we have a difficult time discovering where we are and where to begin. Perhaps because like Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle if we look directly at the idea we aim to measure we risk changing it or not seeing it for what it truly is. In One, McLaughlin gives us a glimpse at what it means to think about consciousness as a moving target. He asks us to look through topics — a blending of history, philosophy (old and new), science, art and life. If you do one thing for yourself this year, read this book. TWICE.

A must have!

As someone that has been listening to Audibles on Self Awareness, Improvement and Actualization I can say this is at the top of my list. it was hard to stop listening when I started.
It shows a great way to look at life and helps you understand many truths about yourself and humankind. It has given me more hope but also perspective on living from the inside out while living a balanced life. There's deep peace and joy in that.
