Red Notice covers the story of the author's own hedge fund, Hermitage Capital, when it was the largest Russian foreign investor for a period of time. He was a Wall Street champion who followed his own instinct to invest in Russia after the Soviet Union breakup. He became an accidental activist as he later exposed cases of corruption. His life was threatened, and his lawyer was tortured to death.
From the reporter who was there at the very beginning comes the revealing inside story of the partnership between Steve Bannon and Donald Trump - the key to understanding the rise of the alt-right, the fall of Hillary Clinton, and the hidden forces that drove the greatest upset in American political history.
The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump describes the consensus view held by two dozen psychiatrists and psychologists that Donald Trump is dangerously mentally ill and that he presents a clear and present danger to the nation and our own mental health.

Best-selling author, former White House speechwriter, and Atlantic columnist and media commentator David Frum explains why President Trump has undermined our most important institutions in ways even the most critical media has missed, in this thoughtful and hard-hitting book that is a warning for democracy and America's future. Quietly, steadily, Trump and his administration are damaging the tenets and accepted practices of American democracy, perhaps irrevocably.
With extraordinary access to the West Wing, Michael Wolff reveals what happened behind-the-scenes in the first nine months of the most controversial presidency of our time in Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House. A Gentleman in Moscow immerses us in an elegantly drawn era with the story of Count Alexander Rostov. When, in 1922, he is deemed an unrepentant aristocrat by a Bolshevik tribunal, the count is sentenced to house arrest in the Metropol, a grand hotel across the street from the Kremlin. Rostov, an indomitable man of erudition and wit, has never worked a day in his life and must now live in an attic room while some of the most tumultuous decades in Russian history are unfolding outside the hotel's doors.
The news-breaking inside account of Israel's state-sponsored assassination programs, from the man hailed by David Remnick as "arguably [Israel's] best investigative reporter."
The Founding Fathers tried to protect us from the threat they knew, the tyranny that overcame ancient democracy. Today, our political order faces new threats, not unlike the totalitarianism of the 20th century. We are no wiser than the Europeans who saw democracy yield to fascism, Nazism, or communism. Our one advantage is that we might learn from their experience.
Tara Westover was 17 the first time she set foot in a classroom. Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, she prepared for the end of the world by stockpiling home-canned peaches and sleeping with her "head-for-the-hills bag". In the summer she stewed herbs for her mother, a midwife and healer, and in the winter she salvaged in her father's junkyard. Her father forbade hospitals, so Tara never saw a doctor or nurse. Gashes and concussions, even burns from explosions, were all treated at home with herbalism.
Leonardo da Vinci created the two most famous paintings in history, The Last Supper and the Mona Lisa. But in his own mind, he was just as much a man of science and engineering. With a passion that sometimes became obsessive, he pursued innovative studies of anatomy, fossils, birds, the heart, flying machines, botany, geology, and weaponry.
Red Notice: A True Story of High Finance, Murder, and One Man's Fight for Justice by Bill Browder is a unique story that blends biography, entrepreneurial business narrative, history, true crime, and a human rights crusade all into one book.
Browder's grandfather was the leader of the American Communist Party. For Browder, going to business school and trying to be a capitalist was a good way to rebel against his liberal parents. After earning his master's of business administration (MBA), however, the standard post-business school paths failed to inspire him. His grandfather had spent a lot of time in Eastern Europe and made a name for himself there. Young Browder thought if his grandfather could find fame and distinction there, so could he.
Lucky for Browder, he graduated in 1989, the same year the Berlin Wall came down, leading to the end of the Cold War....

Good summary & analysis. Probably will read the whole book. Russia is always interesting to me, having grown up in the age of shortwave radio, and hearing Radio Moscow instead of US tv programs. (I knew when they were lying, and grieved for the boy soldiers my age in 1958 Hungary!)
It even inspired me to study Russian, before Vietnamese. Ironically, I also became a follower of the JOHN BIRCH SOCIETY, for life.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!
this gives quite the story of the interaction in the Russian economy. The Putin era has been quite fascinating. The behind-the-scenes activities are interesting. The nature of business in Russia was fascinating
