At the age of 17, Thea Auben was raped, beaten, and left for dead. Fourteen years later, she lives under an assumed name in a carefully constructed online world. Her only real relationship is with her son, David. She has done everything in her power to protect David from the truth about his conception, but he is no longer satisfied by her vague answers about his father.
With the help of a cyber-friend, David runs away to discover what his mother is hiding. Now, Thea is forced to confront her past in a desperate search to find David before it is too late. Ed Sala's masterful narration deftly conveys both the unending suspense and raw emotion of Darian North's powerful and deeply moving story.
I liked this book very much. It had just enough of everything to hold my attention, and a couple of places that even made me say, hah! A little mystery, a little romance, a little sadness, a little suspense, and a little love... just what I like in a story. I will look for other works by this author and the narrator.
