Publisher's summary

On a busy Washington morning, the stately calm of the White House is shattered in a deadly terrorist attack on the executive mansion. The president is evacuated to an underground bunker, but not before nearly 100 hostages are taken.

Mitch Rapp, the CIA’s top counterterrorism operative, is sent in to take control of the crisis and determines that the president is not as safe as Washington’s power elite had thought. Indeed, Rapp has made a chilling discovery that could rock Washington to its core: someone within his own government wants his rescue attempt to fail.

Hear Mitch Rapp, the CIA's top operative, battle global terrorism in more of Vince Flynn's political thrillers.

Critic reviews

"Endless intrigue... Flynn mixes in a spicy broth of brutal terrorists, heroic commandos, and enough secret-agent hijinks to keep the confrontation bubbling until its flag-raising end." ( Publishers Weekly)
" Transfer of Power emerges in its sense of authenticity, depth of research, and almost seamless dramatic scenario....One of Flynn's finest skills as an up-and-coming young master of the genre of political thrillers is his ability to create a cast of compelling characters." ( Bookpage)

Great book

I love the Vince Flynn's books. I've heard/read them all. There is one thing that nags at me. When he introduces as character that is Black, is states that he's black. However, he does it more times throughout the book. For example Miley's skinny black finger, Milt's bald black head, and of course he does it with Marcus also. I know Mr Flynn is no longer with us, and I'm not sure why he did this, but I don't think it's necessary, and I don't like it at all. Especially since he doesn't do it when describing his other characters.

Awkward Narration at Times

I very much enjoyed the story, it progressed at a good pace and took twists that I didn't always see coming.

Listening to the narrator's sometimes awkward enunciation was sometimes a little off-putting. After the first few chapters he seemed to fall into the characters a little more and I got a little more used to his voice.

I will definitely listen again, not the best of the series (that I've heard) but I don't regret the purchase.

Worst narration ever

I love the M Rapp series so far & was looking forward to this book! As far as the story, my only frustration was the lack of continuity (spoiler alert!) in the personal situation for Rapp which left off in a completely different place at the end of the last book - this one didn’t pick up where the last seemed to have left off? Otherwise it WAS a good story.

BUT - the narrator was brutally painful to listen to! His voices were cartoonish at best, and made the characters seem ridiculous. It was SO hard to listen to! I wanted to hear how the story progressed and I just don’t have time to sit & read books which is why I use this app. The previous narrator was great... this guy is SO annoying to listen to that I got lost several times throughout the story. I can’t buy another book in this series because he’s apparently narrating all of them. Hopefully I can just read the books one day or maybe we’ll get lucky & someone else will narrate a new version!
