Publisher's Summary

The elegant, intelligent amateur sleuth Lord Peter Wimsey is one of detective literature's most popular creations. Ian Carmichael is the personification of Dorothy L. Sayers' charming investigator in this BBC Radio 4 full-cast dramatisation. The dignified calm of the Bellona Club is shattered when Lord Wimsey finds General Fentiman dead in his favourite chair. A straighforward death by natural causes? Perhaps... but why can no one remember seeing the general the day he died? And who is the mysterious Mr Oliver? Lord Peter moves between London and Paris, salon and suburbs, to unfold the intriguing case.

Classic Cozy Mystery

Ms Sayers detective stories are in the cozy mystery camp, not violent and sex is alluded to, not described.

This one is a performance piece with Ian Carmichael as Lord Peter. It's entirely enjoyable and a relaxing listen. My only complaint is that Audible hasn't provided the entire Lord Peter series.

Absolutely Adore this Play ❤️

I like everything about this funny little drama which is full of twists & turns. A real sleuther by the upper crust amateur detective with the cut glass voice. His charm wins me over every time.

Ian Carmichael is the perfect actor for Whimsy, this part fits him like a glove & it reflects through out this exciting 3 hour long play. A professional cast of names, adds to the perfection.

From beginning to end, these smart Dorothy L. Sayers keep me enthralled. They are such a treat & you will enjoy going back to the 1920's of the upper scallions of society. I have all of the Sayers full cast audio dramas & wish there were more t buy.
