Publisher's Summary

Meet Molly Sutton, 38 years old and out of work, who moves to a village in France to recover from the end of her marriage. She's looking for peace, beautiful gardens, and pastry - a slower, safer life than the one she'd been living outside of Boston. But you know what they say about the best intentions....

Molly has barely gotten over jet-lag before she hears about a local student's disappearance. In between getting her old ramshackle house in order and reveling in French food, Molly ends up embroiled in the case, along with the gendarmes of Castillac. And unlike the Nancy Drews she loved as a child, this mystery stirs up emotions she thought had been put to rest...and terrifies the residents of her beloved village.

Slow and Disjointed

This one had great potential but never really took off. A lot of filler that just made the story messy. There were so many miscellaneous characters that did not add anything to the story. No clear profession in the story or build up. It was suddenly solved and then over. I still have no idea how we got there. No real crime solving occurred.

The narrator is what kept me listening.

The reading is excellent, the rest.....

This book was very boring. i don't know what made me listen to the whole book, but it was a complete waste ood my time. There really wasn't a story., and the ending??? That had to be the most pathetic excuse for solving a crime ever in the history ood fictional crime solving. I dont want to give spoilers, in case others actually chose to water their time and credits, but the reasoning for the crime being solved could have been explained in many other ways. The narrator is wonderful.

Poor quality

Stilted reading and writing. Poor French accent. If you can't do it right don't do it. Speak English. Too many unnecessary words and facts as I find with a lot of these inexpensive kindle books.

A Quick, Entertaining Read

I read this audio book in two days, zooming through it and never feeling bored with it. I loved main character Molly and the setting of her new home in the French countryside, feeling like I was there with her trying to solve this mystery. I'm looking forward to more stories from this author -- particularly with the characters in this small, charming, yet mysterious town.

Decent murder mystery.

Not to shabby, a good easy listen. I think I bought on a 2 for 1 sale.

more depth in main character

Do you think The Third Girl needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

no, she lives in a small village...it doesn't seem set up for that

Simple writing, light plot, calories-free littérature.

It's a simple story. The characters are bland. There isn't any real plot. It's not an offensive book but there isn't much to grab this auditor through anymore books in this series or by this author.

In two words: a diet book.

Great book!

I thoroughly enjoyed both the quality of writing in the book, as well as the narration. Both well done!
