Publisher's summary

From Janet Evanovich, number-one New York Times best-selling author of the Stephanie Plum novels, and Lee Goldberg, best-selling author and television writer for Monk, comes the first adventure in an electrifying new series featuring an FBI agent who always gets her man, and a fearless con artist who lives for the chase.

FBI Special Agent Kate O’Hare is known for her fierce dedication and discipline on the job, chasing down the world’s most wanted criminals and putting them behind bars. Her boss thinks she is tenacious and ambitious; her friends think she is tough, stubborn, and maybe even a bit obsessed. And while Kate has made quite a name for herself for the past five years the only name she’s cared about is Nicolas Fox - an international crook she wants in more ways than one.

Audacious, handsome, and dangerously charming, Nicolas Fox is a natural con man, notorious for running elaborate scams on very high-profile people. At first he did it for the money. Now he does it for the thrill. He knows that the FBI has been hot on his trail - particularly Kate O’Hare, who has been watching his every move. For Nick, there’s no greater rush than being pursued by a beautiful woman...even one who aims to lock him up. But just when it seems that Nicolas Fox has been captured for good, he pulls off his greatest con of all: He convinces the FBI to offer him a job, working side by side with Special Agent Kate O’Hare.

Problem is, teaming up to stop a corrupt investment banker who’s hiding on a private island in Indonesia is going to test O’Hare’s patience and Fox’s skill. Not to mention the skills of their ragtag team made up of flamboyant actors, wanted wheelmen, and Kate’s dad. High-speed chases, pirates, and Toblerone bars are all in a day’s work...if O’Hare and Fox don’t kill each other first.

Unexpected adventure from this author

Janet Evanovich has been a favorite author for years, Lee Goldberg is for me a new author. The collaboration has created a fabulous story. The audible rendition is exciting and entertaining. I listened to Heist in one day as I could not stop listening the story. A great duo, I hope to see more from them in the future.

What an entertaining book!

This is a really lovely book! It's fun, as in almost funny but not quite comedy. The writing is witty - but not mad, as in Spike Milligan. There's suspense, but not the intense and morbid sort where people get caught and brutally tortured. The two protagonists: Fox and O'Hare, are absolutely lovable. Fox is a con artist. His cons are good (I wouldn't say brilliant, but good enough). I didn't really want the book to end, and, of course, I'll read the next book in this series. Only I'm concerned: will the authors be able to match this one?

Fun, Sexy, Sassy

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I am a new fan of this author. This team has wit, sass, and humor. My new fave reader brings it all to life. Note: try 1.25x speed to bring the action into movie format.

What other book might you compare The Heist to and why?

There are many that have a heist premise to list, but this whole series will give you a lift as it is fun, sexy, and engaging. Our heroine is of course lethal and courageous which makes her sexy to our hero. "Rocket propelled grenade launcher" scene makes her sexy! Scott Brick, reader makes our hero Nick, yummy!

Which character – as performed by Scott Brick – was your favorite?

OH, he was the best!! He has a way with a reading pace that brings you right into the action. I am his newest fan! He does do a female voice or an inflection that lets you know it is the female heroine speaking. GREAT! I discovered him on the 1st series sale and now have his 600 book list to enjoy. When you see a bad review, you will have to trust that those reviewers can't really appreciate a great reader. See Victor Selzak, Karen White, Natalie Ross, Gabra Zackman, and my latest fave, Angela Dawe.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yup as it was fun, and sassy! I loved Dad Jake!! Who wouldn't want a dad that can "kill a man 16 ways with eyelash tweezers". He steals the show in his small scenes!

Any additional comments?

These books are worth the credit as they give you joy and a smile when bogged down with chores. Enjoy

Entertaining fast paced adventure! Strong female characters . Fairness vs greed. Good details regarding locations where the action takes place.

Surprising

I was a skeptical in the beginning but it picked up as the story progressed. It was fun fiction and the characters were better than most. This is mission impossible with a bit of sexual tension. The story moved along without to much junk added to extend it. And to become irritating. I will read another in the series

The A Team

This book's story reminded me of the A-Team. Totally unbelievable characters and "mission," and yet it was a fun read.
