Publisher's Summary

When a stranger asks Jo Blackmore for a lift, she says yes, then swiftly wishes she hadn't. The stranger knows Jo's name; she knows her husband, Max, and she's got a glove belonging to Jo's two-year-old daughter, Elise. What begins with a subtle threat swiftly turns into a nightmare as the police, social services and even Jo's own husband turn against her. No one believes that Elise is in danger. But Jo knows there's only one way to keep her child safe - run.

    Story
"While nothing new, it is well executed "

The structure of this jam-packed, fast paced novel is well-laid out, moving from the protoganist's voice to a mysterious person continuously. While the enigmatic chapters were less than mysterious, as I figured out who it was near the beginning, it is clear and not too overdone. It is sad as there are many mothers treated this way especially through the systems, not believed and thought of as unfit. Hence it seems realistic with a sense of tension throughout

"Another cracker from C L Taylor"

Yet another fantastic standalone novel from C L Taylor. Captivating characters, twists and turns- this is on a par with The Missing. Loved it. Wonderful narration as well. If you like Taylor's previous novels you'll love this one too.

"This author always writes about weak women"

    Unbelievable plot
Spends over half the story repeating the main characters problems
Wish I had remembered her last book with the last weak woman!

    "A chore to get through"

I really liked the other books from this author but this was not a good one. the story was full and uninteresting, all characters were unsympathetic and the twists were not worth it. I struggled to the end but I'll be getting a refund on this turkey I'm afraid.

    "Incredibly boring!"

Got off to an ok start.
Then nothing really happens for the next 6 hours or so of listening.
Returned it in the end as I was fed up of waiting for it to get going!

"Don't waste your time - this is terrible"

No real story or mystery here, just a. sequence of good heroic woman against bad and weak man. Full of cliches.
