Publisher's Summary

Growing up in a small town isn't easy, especially when you're the daughter of a local cult leader. Ten years ago, Eden Collins left Clear Springs, Montana, and never once looked back. But when the bodies of murdered young women surface, their corpses violated and marked with tattoos worn by her mother's followers, Eden, now an FBI agent, can't turn a blind eye. To catch the killer, she's going to have to return to the fold.

Sheriff Zach Owens isn't comfortable putting Eden in danger, even if she is an elite agent. And he certainly wasn't expecting to be so attracted to her. As calm and cool as she appears, he knows this can't be a happy homecoming. Zach wants to protect her - from her mother, the cult, and the evil that lurks behind its locked gates. But Eden is his only key to the tight-lipped group, and she may just be closer to the killer than either one of them suspects...

Terrible Narration

This is a ridiculous book. Having nothing to do with the awful Narration it just doesn't make much sense. There is no way the leading agent is a member of the BAU as is repeatedly mentioned. But once you get past the craziness of thst you have to deal with the narrator. She is just terrible. Squeaky high pitched tries of sounding like men does her no favors. The writings not bad if you can overcome the other things. Think it'd be better to read than listen. Can't recommend due to the narrator though.

Not what i was expecting (in a bad way)

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Not really. The narrator..was bad. Specially her male voices were nasal and whinny. Also she will yelled every sentence. the characters will sound loud and exasperated all the time.
Second...The main character is the worst FBI agent I have ever read before. She is constantly making stupid mistakes, getting herself in trouble and at the same time we will be reminded that SHE IS AN FBI AGENT and one of the best.......

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I would have change the narrator. Also is a romantic-suspense, lacking in both. There was no connection between the protagonists. Too force. I rolled my eyes several times with the two of them. The suspense was also weak. Not much of a mystery in my opinion. figure it out too soon.

Was The Devil's Daughter worth the listening time?

ehhhhh...........

BEWARE!!!! Awful narrator

I was really excited about this book but I just could not get past the "cheerleader" narration. This was supposed to be a thriller but the narration was totally off. I could not finish the book as listening to this narrator was like nails on the chalk board. It is also noted she narrates the second book in this series so I guess I am going to strike this author from my list of audibles.

Should have read the reviews, I could not listen

What would have made The Devil's Daughter better?

Simple, I tried for 35 minutes, the narration was truly as though Mickey Mouse was imitating the characters, especially the men; NOT IN A FUNNY WAY. I wanted to get interested in the book (I love small town stories) but I could not do it. I feel I am being rude, but someone should at least listen before producing an entire book like this. If the narrator had simply used her own voice the entire time it would have been OK . So happy Audible has a great return policy and I will do better at listening to the samples - my fault.

Has The Devil's Daughter turned you off from other books in this genre?

Only from this narrator

How could the performance have been better?

Obvious by this point, a different narrator

Devils Daughter

I find that I don't care for this kind of book. It was well written, but just not my 'cup of tea'.

Solid Thriller

What did you love best about The Devil's Daughter?

A really interesting premise for an FBI agent's background. The characters were believable.

Any additional comments?

One of the sex scenes was erotic, as in, Rated X. Totally unnecessary.

Nice

Good suspense, though some better research is in order. Example: only two vics are needed for a serial killer. Worth a read though.

Painful until the very end

Would you try another book from Katee Robert and/or Carly Robins?

Not likely. The narration of this book was painful.

Would you ever listen to anything by Katee Robert again?

Not likely. The book had huge holes and you have to suspend logic to make it palatable. The representation of women in this book is sad and the main character is a poor demonstration of a BAU agent.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The voices were just....bad. So so bad.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

It finally ended.....
