Publisher's Summary

Across the country women are being murdered by a killer who leaves no evidence, no fatal wounds, no signs of struggle, and no clues to a motive. They are, truly, perfect crimes. In fact, the only thing that links the victims is the man they all knew: Jack Reacher.

    "Good story. Horrible narrator."

Awsome story line. Can not say the same about the narrator. He made the federal agents sound like complete idiots. I'm excited that Dick Hill is the narrator for the next book.

    "Terrible narrator"

The story was fine-typical entertaining Reacher. But the narrator was really hard to listen to. He couldn't do women's voices at all and he made the male characters except for Reacher sound angry and shout everything. He really ruined the book. I hope they don't get him to do any more Reacher stories.

Would you listen to Running Blind again? Why?

No. Its a mystery. Really no point unless i forget the story.

Would you recommend Running Blind to your friends? Why or why not?

No. There are better reacher books.

What does Johnathan McClain bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The sense of attitude and ego is just PERFECT.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. i just HAD to know how it ended.

    Any additional comments?

Story was wound so tight. i was DYING to figure at the mystery. It was such a let down.. :( worst Reacher book so far just for that. man... such a let down.

    "Disappointed"

I liked other reacher stories with more action. The best part of this book was the first chapter.

"Even blind Jack is still faster than you"

Running Blind is Lee Child's 4th Jack Reacher installment. Jack is conned into assisting the FBI with a serial murderer going after former military female sexual harassment victims while staying one step ahead of NYC mob activity in the protection racket. Jack also continues to struggle with being tied down with a home and feels torn and trapped between his feelings for Jodie and his preference for few long term commitments.

This time out, Jack is squarely viewed by the FBI as the "bad guy" and must deal with resentment and suspicion. His deductive skills are much in evidence with a complex set of ritualistic murders that are truly baffling. At the same time, his physicality is less pronounced this time out. Jack eventually puts the puzzle together and still ends up on the wrong side of the FBI even while besting their best.

The narration is outstanding with Jonathan McCalin reprising his Reacher role while delivering a solid range of voices. Pacing and mood are perfect for Jack Reacher.

    "Need 2 Narrators "

Having one narrator do both male and female voices drives me nuts. On top of not one the better Reachers stories... just ok

    "A bit slow..."

I love Reacher but this book needed some editing. Parts of the book were exciting and others seemed to linger. It may have been better if there was a 2nd narrator for the female roles. I've read the paper copy of some of the other books. Running Blind is a "one off" of an otherwise 5 star series.

    "Buy the book!"
Would you listen to Running Blind again? Why?

Nope. Not for a minute. If it wasn't for being a Jack Reacher fan I would have returned this book before the end of the second chapter. I had two issues with the performance by J. McClain: 1) he chose a whiny, nasal, irritating voice for one of the main supporting characters which made it horrid to listen to for any length of time. 2) you would have thought that Lee Child wrote almost all the dialogue for the secondary characters in ALL CAPS. THEY SHOUTED THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE BOOK. I wish I had read this instead, it would have saved me a headache.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Johnathan McClain?

I'm a Scott Brick fan, so probably him.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

As stated above, my most extreme reaction was the desire to turn off this book and read it instead...

    "Another great book"

I knew who the killer was pretty quick but it didn't detract from the story.
