Publisher's Summary

The house was deathly quiet. That was the first sign that something was terribly wrong. Fourteen-year-old Cynthia Bigge woke that morning to find herself alone. Her family - mother, father, and brother - had vanished without a word, without a note, without a trace. Twenty-five years later, Cynthia is still looking for answers. Now she is about to learn the devastating truth.

Cynthia and Terry Archer still live in Milford, Connecticut, not far from the old Bigge house on Hickory Street. With a solid marriage and a young daughter, the Archers seem on track for a successful future. But the questions raised by Cynthia's past still haunt her, and her obsession with finding the answers threatens to destroy everything they've worked for. For Cynthia, there can be no closure until she finds out why her family disappeared - and how they could have left her behind.

Terry thinks the segment on the popular TV crime-stopper program Deadline is a mistake. But his wife hopes that someone watching will have a lead to her missing family. Sure enough, it's Cynthia who spots the strange car cruising the neighborhood, hears the untraceable phone calls, and discovers the ominous "gifts." And as Cynthia's nerves begin to unravel, no one's innocence is guaranteed, not even her own.

By the time the first body is found, it's clear that her past is more of a mystery than she ever imagined - or may ever survive. Someone has returned to this Connecticut town to finish what was started 25 years ago. And by the time Terry and Cynthia discover the killer's shocking identity, it will be too late even for goodbye.

    "Interesting story"

This was rather a unique story. There were many twists and turns with an unexpected ending. while I did enjoy the narration for the most part I found the voice used for some of the characters less pleasing and at times almost annoying. Not a fast-paced story but one that kept my interest.

    "Great Story!"

This was my first time reading (listening) to a Linwood Barclay novel. I am moving on to his next book right now! It was a great story, easy to follow, although I did find it a bit slow at times and that is the only reason I didn't give it a 5☆ overall. Each character was well developed and were relatable. I would certainly recommend reading No Time For Goodbye!

"Interesting start, went off a cliff along the way"

The main characters were nicely developed but surrounded by caricatures of people who behave in dumb ways that just don't make sense. No nuance or mystery in this childish plot.

    "Entertaining"

This is my third read of a Barclay novel, and it was an entertaining page turner as always, although I think the author's gotten better over time and the later books are better. The plot still had enough twists to keep me guessing, although I did figure this one out a bit sooner than "A Tap On The Window" or my favorite, "Trust Your Eyes." Christopher Lane does a fine job, although his reading of one elderly character is a dead-on Jimmy Stewart impression which I found a bit distracting. If "Trust" was an A, I give this one a B.

    "listened to The Whole Thing"

I used a credit on this story because it had a recommendation from Michael Connelly, one of my favorite authors. Then it was okay, I like this story, then I didnt. I often felt like saying "alright I get it, move along" in parts. It alternated between great suspense and goofyness. Overall I gave it 5 stars because I felt like it was worth continuing on, even when I was not really into it. I really liked the narrator for the man voices but the wife's voice not so much. I think it was an unusual take on the family disappears theme. Really good. I think some will love this story, so I don't want to discourage anyone from choosing it.

    "Intense and Suspenseful Ending"

The intensity and suspense of the ending alone is awesome.

I knew immediately what was the overall mystery behind the missing family, but all the little pieces and backstory threw me for a loop.

The plans of certain people and the crimes they committed were just awful. How do you even believe it's okay and just live life as if you did nothing wrong?

NO SPOILERS as this is so twisted and convoluted, you NEED to read it. You may think it drags on in the beginning, but then it just gets bat sh*t crazy and you are freaking out in the end, hoping the ending isn't as insane as the entire story.

"Good Book! Narration? 90 % good, 10% terrible."
What made the experience of listening to No Time for Goodbye the most enjoyable?

The basic story was pretty good, although it could have been shortened up somewhT.

Would you be willing to try another one of Christopher Lane’s performances?

For the most part, the narration was good, but certain characters voices were electronically changed, and they were bad. There was also the older man, who totally reminded me by his voice of the old actor, Jimmy Steward. I don't know if this was intentionally, but it grated on me everytime this character spoke.

"Thrilling and will tug at your heart"

Best thriller I had read since Gone Girl. But in this one, there are some characters that you will end up coming to care for. I highly recommend it.
