Publisher's summary

All Mason Dixon wants is to mix classy drinks for classy people... Mason owns a bar, and he's not getting any younger. He wants nothing more than to retire in peace, fishing and drinking with the locals. But his past as an assassin is catching up with him. Mason moonlights as an assassin, taking jobs to remove "marks" from the playing field. It pays well, and he's good at it. So when he makes a mistake, things quickly get out of hand and he finds himself racing against the clock to save a life he inadvertently put into danger.

Entertaining, but maybe not a super-thriller

This is the story of Mason Dixon, a bartender by day and hitman by night. The challenge for Mason comes when a woman, Hannah, comes into the bar and Mason does not immediately realize that she is his mark. Of course, their relationship develops in a way that it should not for a hitman and then Mason becomes conflicted between his job and his feelings. The story is told in a very straightforward manner that is easy to follow in an audio format and it made for a very entertaining listen.

The narration by Harmon Gamble was excellent and I thought the overall production and performance were great. The story was good enough that I will find the second in the series - not sure if it will be audio or ebook just yet, but I know that I can count on Thacker's work to be entertaining and well worth the investment.

My type of Hero

It took me a long time to get use to the Performer's voice and style. Story starts out slow, but like all first books with new charterers, it takes time to build up. My type of hero because he is a bartender and knows how to make great drinks and family assassin. It took some research to build this story.

This audible was provided to me by the Author for free. Thanks Nick.

Great Story!

A good mystery, told well, with interesting characters. What more could you want? I’m looking forward to more of Mason’s adventures in book 2.

Adequate story

It's ok...tries to have Joe Ledger bks attitude, Some of John Rain bks reasoning & expounds on his liquor knowledge, Gray man standards/skills...and a little of old tv show Equalizer mentality....Seemed like a jumble, the places where he went on &on were ones that often didn't need it, &where u really wanted more info or background or something there was nothing. lf I had a do over for this credit, I wouldn't. Narrator was fine but could use lessons from Ray Porter.

Mason Dixon What a Waste

This book was poorly written. The reader was not engaging but he did not have much to work with. The character came across as a dumb jock but not evens jock. There were pieces of the book that did not make sense.
