Publisher's Summary

Aidan Flynn, a private investigator and eldest of the Flynn brothers, scoffs at the haunted-house rumors - especially since Kendall Montgomery, a tarot card reader who has been living in the mansion, is the one to tell him the tale of a woman in white. But when he finds a human bone on the grounds and another by the river, Aidan delves into the dark history of the Flynn plantation.

Forced together to uncover the truth, Aidan and Kendall realize that a serial killer whose victims seem to vanish into thin air has long been at work...and that their own fates are about to be sealed forever unless they believe in the unbelievable.

Loved this. Need book 2!!!

This book reminded me of something Karen Rose would write.
The story line is an almost even split between romance and tension and on the other side murder and mayhem.

I loved it. The characters are well formed and grow well throughout the story. The mystery and mayhem keeps you glued to the book and the result is nice and tidy.

I loved the setting and the author did an amazing job with world building.

I will definitely read the next book in this series and I suspect that this author now has a new fan.

Another really good read from H. Graham

What made the experience of listening to Deadly Night the most enjoyable?

As always Heather Graham writes about interesting places and people. This was a good mystery and had all the usual suspects including the ghost running for cover. Hot lead too. you will not want to miss the Flynn brothers.

What does Phil Gigante bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

he brings the characters to life

Will read series

This is my first Heather Graham download and I have to say, I really enjoyed this audio book. It has mystery, romance, *ghosts*, interesting characters and some twists and turns. The sexy, cranky Aidan Flynn and his two brothers Jeffrey and Zach inherit a plantation in New Orleans from an aunt they never met. In fact they never knew she even existed until they learn of their inheritance. Kendall Montgomery was the caregiver and companion in the last months of Aidan's aunt's life. Kendall stays in the house even after the aunt's death. She and Aidan at first do not like each other. They don't trust each other. Aiden thinks she has ulterior motives and Kendall does not understand how Aiden never knew he had this wonderful aunt that left him her plantation. After they get over each other, they are all over each other, sparks fly and they start a romantic relationship and begin solving a serial murder mystery together. This is a super enjoyable listen. I love mysteries, especially that take place in the south. I will be downloading book 2.

One small hole

I would have given this book five stars except for one overlooked detail. I can't reveal the hole here without risking spoiling the ending. I think most who read/listen to the story will wonder too 'how, why' and for what reason'. There was one other problem but not as big. We could surmise that it was the antagonist who did it but it was never mentioned in the narrative so the reader/listener has to guess. I don't like to guess so it bothers me and I wonder if the author just forgot to tie up loose ends.
The story as a whole was well done. The characters were well developed and their actions and conclusions made good sense. There was no awkwardness or trivia to fill the pages. She had a story to tell and she told it. You could really like the good guys and the bad guy although it was a little obvious who he was, was really bad. In all the book was very entertaining and I am looking forward to the next book by Ms. Graham. She is a very good writer. I recommend this book to anyone who likes suspense, romance and mystery.
I have never heard Mr. Gigante perform but he is outstanding. He has a huge repertoire of voices and he kept them all straight. No guess who was taking and no confusion about who was who. He added suspense and a deep sense of entertainment to the story.

Felt a bit disconnected

I wasn't exactly thrilled with this book. It really didn't seem to flow well. If this is book one then I would have expected a bit more background on the main characters then there was. I spent a lot of time with the "Huh" thought going through my head. Having the sex scenes narrated by a man and being that in depth in the description was really not something I was used to with a male narrator. Normally you get that more in the books narrated by women so that threw me off a bit. I would probably listen to another just because I want to see if they get better, but it would probably have to be on sale for me to do it.

Lousy Narrator!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Maybe. The story is okay, but it's a little awkward and disjointed. It's hard to tell, however, if this is due to the way the book was written or the way it's narrated. The main character's voice is normal, but otherwise most of the men with southern accents sound either dumb or effeminate. The female voices are AWFUL and they really had a negative influence on the way I felt about the characters. All of the women sound stupid or whiny. It made the whole book very irritating to listen to. If I hadn't purchased this book as part of a $4.95 sale, I would have been pretty upset about how bad it was.

Would you be willing to try another one of Phil Gigante’s performances?

NO!!
